Opensourceness itself does not mean that the software will be immediately high quality. There are lot of quality proprietary software as lot of open source projects not worth looking at them.

The concept of national domains is anarchaic, and irrelevant. It's a totally useless concept ..
This is maybe valid in english speaking countries, but there are MANY countries where people preffer national domains, because they know that they will understand what is on that site (not everyone in the world speak english). If it is useles, then why there are national versions of such sites as Google or Hotmail ?? Did you realize that there is not only english language?

Who the hell wants his house walls built only from concrete ?? It is the worst material - bad thermo isolation, heavy, and you can NOT tear down your house easily after its lifespan (do not lauhg, this IS often big problem!). Not to mention you are unable to do some small changes inside of your won house after 5 years, because IT IS ALL ONE BIG BLOCK OF CONCRETE !!

  13. Re:Recruit the community on Large-Scale Paper-To-Digital Conversion? · · Score: 1

Well, the same was in university where I studied. But for many students printed material is much more readable then handwritten. I personaly took my teacher slides, translated it (it was written in english, which is not my native language), and then TeX-ed it (because of lots of equations and such stuff). At the beginning of the course, every student had photocopy of original slides. At the end, no one used them, they preffered the TeX-ed version. So this 'volunteering' actualy may works, because final document will be much more readable/manageable/searchable .. and probably after agreement of the teacher can be published online.
