Exactly.
We can talk about bringing freedom to the world, yet we continually decide to limit free speech here in this country because of outdated views of what is "decent".
These puritanical attitudes make us the laughing stock of the entire world.
I can't see us being taken seriously until we stop acting like 12 year olds every time a breast pops out on TV, or some shock jock says something naughty.
Keep in mind that the goverment would agree to it, and enforce it, for everyone but them. The goverment itself would of course pay no attention to it whatsoever.
This is geared towards helping corperations bring suit against people who they feel are either stealing or helping people steal their product.
While I agree that the terms are overly broad, the reality is they're not talking about outlawing PC's, they're talking about outlawing things like cards for PC's that allow them to be used for theft of sat or cable signal.
My personal view on this is that it is the responsiblity of the broadcasters to insure that their signals are secure enough that they can't be broken with little or no effort. The corperations don't feel that way.
While definately not the most obvious use of this software, it could prove interesting on sites such as/., cnn, salon etc. to talk live to others about an article. Posting comments is fine, but it's not live, and it could be days before anyone responds.
It's certainly not something you'd leave running all the time.
Nothing at all. I just happen to be one of the few who feel that they did a pretty good job translating Dune to the screen. I know I'm in the minority on that one. Still, you have to appreciate that it's Scifi doing the translation rather then Lynch/De Laurentiis. Think Puppeteers with wierding modules.
I for one have been waiting anxiously for someone to do a movie or miniseries on Ringworld. Hopefully they'll treat it as well as they did the Dune books.
Yes, wireless devices are becoming more prevelant, but they will never fully replace wired fixed workstations. While we can always work towards wireless devices that use less power, better batteries, and better wireless connectivity, it will not match the speed and power of a desktop.
The idea that battery life is going to limit the semiconductor industry is foolish.
It's silly that this is something our society is so worried about. Let's all waste a huge amount of effort and time to keep profanity off the air, and I'm sure all the problems of unemployment, poverty, violent crime etc will all work themselves out.
Yes, but then you have all of the propaganda claiming that by buying drugs you're supporting terrorist activities. Give them time and they'll make drug possesion treason.
They do make such a device. I forget the name of it, but it plugs into the top of an N64, and allows you to play NES, Famicom, SNES, Super Famicom, N64 and JP N64 games all on the same unit. Seems like lik-sang used to carry this, but I'm far too lazy to go look up the link.
Why is it we always seem to gravitate away from simplicity whenever possible? This new setup seems to be just asking for problems. With all of the other problems in a modern PC, this is just going to add to end user frustration levels.
Until an app. comes around that truly proves useful, bluetooth support will be just another label on the features list. If that day ever comes, then I think it will be a real selling point on new devices.
And I love it! It takes the ideas of THPS4 and brings it to a level that really works. Best new feature in my opinion is the difficulty level setting. It makes a huge difference in how the game plays.
XM will have music...FM will become AM
on
Who Needs Radio?
·
· Score: 1
Anybody listen to AM radio recently? It's become mainly just a forum for talk shows and religious programming. XM looks to be the future of music radio. Better quality, and no more getting annoyed because the DJ doesn't tell you the name of the song he just played. The real question would be what happens to AM if FM turns into what AM is now?
Linus Torvalds will be the next Page 3 girl.
C'mon folks...would this story be here if this were the Weekly World News reporting it? The Sun really isn't much better
If this type of thing is allowed to continue, it will certainly put a damper on real innovations. Vauge patents will keep many companies from implementing anything for fear of being sued.
Yep. If only the romans would've had more lions... ;)

In the cramped quarters of something like a space station, do you really want something else floating loose to run into?

that which can be explained by ignorance. Of course, that only applies to those who aren't bright enough to be paranoid yet.... ;)

I don't really claim to know what the right app will be. Wireless headsets don't make sense to me. I've tried them, and I wasn't very impressed.

How long before somebody tries to squeeze this thing into an old Timex-Sinclair 1000?
I just don't see this happening. I believe most people will still want to have something solid to show for the money they spend.

Another place for people no one cares about to post rants no one will ever read. Isn't there enough of this on the net already?

Does this mean I won't have to quit playing GTA when a user calls me from work with printer message?
More studies are required to determine the effects of cutting 5e and 6. We have applied for a goverment grant to proceed with these studies.
