funny how MS was trumpeting the console as "One platform to rule them all" what with the single architecture to program for resulting in less bugfixes and whatnot.
I wonder if Microsoft made Nvidia disclose specs then gave them to ATI, the same way they screwed the cellphone manufacturers? That'd be more interesting to watch than the old WordPerfect/Word battle of last decade.
How about"Microft and the poor handling of executable files is the reason that there are so many e-mail borne viruses.
I mean if it says it's a midi file and it's an executable, why treat it like a midi instead of a corrupted executable. Same goes for batch files. If the damned thing isn't a batch file, prompt us dammit!
I use GDM and KDM on my work and home computers respectively. KDM is more asthetically pleasing, and has that familiar feel of unix. GDM is more configurable, although I have yet to see sufficient documentation on doing so. Creating your own login screen relies on reverse-engineering other themes. It's not that hard, pretty much all XML, but you think that they could write a primer or a spec sheet for it.
Once the lawsuits settle down, it will all be put back. The developers are distancing themselves from SCO for fear of reprimand. I would too. Take the code out early and don't give them another target. We can always put it back when SCO is made redundant, although it may not be entirely necessary at that point.
Hoo-Boy. And here I was, starting to get upset that IBM and Red Hat were doing nothing to stop the fudwar.
Man, can IBM bitchslap or what? Not only are they targetting SCO, they're targetting the managements pocketbooks as much as possible. If that entire Novell blocking the revocation of the AIX licenses is true, then the shareholders have a beef which could ultimately lead to a class-action.
I guess that certain procedures would have to be followed and an independant overseer would have to be appointed, albeit by one of the cantidates on the ballot.
At some point we would have to collectively trust the bastards, the same way we trust automovite manufacturers and inkjet printer manufacturers to look out for our best interests.
We're doomed!

They're using all their badwidth on porn. Give them a break.
My piss-poor website is funded out of my own pocket, and realistically, that's the way it should be. I put up some banners for shirts and posters, but to date I have not had a single purchase. It really doesn't bother me too much. I realize that I'm making only a couple of hits a day, and as of late, have not been updating as often as I'd like to. Even so, I do not consider my site to be operating at a loss. My bandwidth is a fixed cost, which I pay anyway for net access. Any sales that I would make off commissions would be considered pure profit. The fact that I haven't made anything yet does not mean a loss. Once more people can do this, and more bandwidth becomes cheaper, the big, pay-for-content websites will fall by the wayside. Anything that they put up will be mirrored in one form or another, new, fresh opinions with less business-centric morals will replace the need for 'organized content'.
Who wants the internet ordered for us anyways? I thought the whole point was that we were to sift through information and opinion and *gasp* make an informed decision!
And if we armed more students, they could have shot the bastards as they walked in.
Maybe we could have made some laws to make their parents hold them more while they were children, or enroll them in little-league.
How about all those people with websites that are against the current administration? Could we lock them up for crimes that they may commit? Let's lock up the entire democratic party! Or the green party, they're pretty strange. Who knows what they're going to do.
In case you missed the sarcasm, the bill of rights is a blanket bill. Because of this, you have to take the good with the bad. If someone were to have made a bomb and blew up a government building, he could be an accessory, or essentially equally responsible, as in the case of Charles Manson.

As long as they're tasty, you're right!
They put the SCO spin on it, so it's new.
The compromise was probably a weak password or an inside job.
Which is why syslog should be on another secure computer, and dumped to paper in a locked room for high-security sites.
It won't help the recovery, but helps pinpoint the intrusion
Aren't these kinda days the ones that make people go psychotic and commit mass violent crimes and then shoot themselves at the end?
I hope they use bombs instead. Bigger insurance claims.
I just type fast and don't use preview.
Preview is a security blanket for the pedantic, in much the same way religion is a security blanket for those who are afraid of death.
(Flame on)
This is not a big news story. The internet has given everyone a voice, but those who know how to speak are genreally understood more readily.
So we have this huge inter-connected network which spans the globe, now what do we do with it?
Hey! Let's talk to each other!
About what?
Politics...

Quit slashdotting the image gallery!
And someone get on the horn to TSG. Let's see if she paid for college the way we're all hoping she did!
I was waiting for that one. Thanks!
That will get a bunch of them to sell.
They stack well in a server room!
Well, can you, or do we need yet another button?

IBM for President!!!
Hope SCO managers cashed in ALL of their stock.
Sco is going down like Justin Timberlake at a Nambla meeting!

What about SCSI spice?
If you ask me, they're all kind of scuzzy.
When can I get the MatriXXX and spy on horny housewives?
Yeah, but suits usually have ultra-boneable trophy wives that are just staying around long enough to win a divorce settlement. Tag'em both!
Hey, it's a lady!
it burns when I pee
I'm working on the third one right now. Maybe tomorrow I'll work on the second.
Is Gonorreah a horrible disease, because after I'm done tomorrow, the plans will be in place for number one.

20 years is an abuse of power.
