Saying that what google is doing is ok because of chinas values are different then our own is not a valid ethical argument.

Odd that 'harmonizing' is always in one direction - for some reason, no one ever wants to decrease IP regulation to harmonize with some other country.

It's not odd at all. The Australian government wants more trade from the US, whitch will only occur if the Australian government increases IP regulation. If the Australian people want less IP regulation (I.e. fair use clauses), its up to them to lobby their government. Things don't usually happen in government because its the right thing to do, things happen because of interests. In this case, businesses (both US and Australian) have a compelling interest towards more trade, so until there is a compelling interest towards fair use the Australian government will probbley not get around to it.

An Oligopoly is not a non-ideal form of competition when the products being made are high cost items. Imagine if there were many small firms in the console business...instead of there being only 3 consoles to deal with, one would have to choose between many (not as good) products. ALso, Video game manufactures would have to make games that could work on all the consoles. For the video game market, an Oligopoly is ideal.

Yes, i know IE loads faster because it is integrated in windows and whatnot, and however unfair that may be, the bottom line is that it is faster.

In the posters example, I would imagine the corporation would 1. Sell the new wheat 2. Sell the DNA to other soulless multinational corporations who would grow more wheat, and 3. Profit. And we should all be thankfull that the corporation was around in the first place.
