How about someone reading or eating or sleeping? Especially the sleeping part seems like it would be more distracting to the passenger than using a laptop. Stupid laws...
The internet is set to become the basis for just about every form of communication, according to net pioneer Vint Cerf, and he should know what he is talking about
Just because he was involved in the technology underlying the Internet for a long time doesn't mean he knows the future of the Internet anymore than an engineer knows the mind of a consumer.
I believe code reviews with a large enough group of people to be extremely useful. Yeah, it takes time and you get some irritating comments from a few people about how there is a space between something or comma between something, but when multiple eyes look at it, someone always catches something you didn't. A few hours of extra pain on the side of programmers can prevent pain for millions in the form of blaster viruses, etc.
Seems like a lot of the clearcase features seem to be targetted towards extremely large projects involving 100s of people in a controlled environment (such as a corporationa as opposed to open source development).
Using Clearcase in smaller projects involving fewer people seems way more trouble than it is worth. Clearcase sucks ass at least for such projects.
And even if a CPU itself figures out how to configure all the components in your PC, that would mean there is an equivalent of the BIOS in the CPU package and someone would still be needed to develop that.:)
All major computer manufacturers are pricey if you try to get a fully configured system from them. The key is to buy the base configuration (128 MB RAM, 20-30GB HDD, etc) which is usually extremely inexpensive and then head over to fry's or some other place to upgrade your RAM, etc.
The real target of anti-trust investigations should be all the large record companies. They get together, form the RIAA, and control the market. If this isn't a target for anti-trust action, I don't know what is.
Actually, a lot of scholars think Oppenheimer mis-quoted the Bagavad Gita. In sanskrit, the word "kaal" could mean both death as well as time. In this case, the verse is supposedly more accurately translated as "Time I am, the destroyer of worlds"
I agree with you.. But on the other hand, there are ideas that leave us saying "DUH!" but until someone actually came up with that idea, no one saw it.
It's not just that it's easy to get ridiculous patents through the Patent office. There are incentives in most companies for employees filing patents such as cash, stock options, etc. This not only inspires some people to come up with good ideas, but it also inspires a lot of people to come up with crap just so that they can get some $$$ (yeah I'm one of them too).
This ICBM nonsense seems to be floating all over the place. Only a bloody idiot would use a cryogenic engine for an ICBM. You don't need to build a god damned geostationery satellite launch vehicle to build an ICBM. India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle which has been operational for many years now can easily be converted to an operational ICBM. Cryogenic engines just add the need for a lot more ground facilities for a launch. There just isn't a need for an ICBM since China and Pakistan are right next door to India.
The attitude seems to be.. "oh India's launching satellites? It must be for something bad." Get over it assholes.

uhoh you said "human evolution". Now a bunch of christian crazies will come along to tell you how it never happened.
and you want the passenger to drive too?

How about just stop taking caffeine, nicotine, or whatever it is you are addicted to (if you wish to stop that is).

Ever noticed the horrible overacting in the old Star Trek. I'm going to assume the music is also bad.
Anyone use Merant PVCS? Lacks some basic features but simple and quick.

and how the hell is linux bios going to LEGALLY get all the Intel secret/confidential docs to write a BIOS for the latest and greatest chipsets?
And even if a CPU itself figures out how to configure all the components in your PC, that would mean there is an equivalent of the BIOS in the CPU package and someone would still be needed to develop that. :)
Think I'm joking?
Check this out
Wouldn't it find its way into traditional Chinese medicine or something?

Don't think that makes any difference. AMD's HQ is in Austin. Doesn't mean the city will automatically use all AMD systems.
How about just making a copy for 10 cents and giving it to people instead?
This has got to be the most interesting technology story of the year

The moon mission India is planning will be unmanned.. Don't think there are plans of a manned mission.

$699 for you know what
With UNIX, you get a long power cut once in a few years. With Windows, you'll have a 5 minute power cut to reboot the servers, every 1 hour. You pick
