Yes using port mapping and ACL's on my shitty but these days standard cable router.
Then I can VNC to any desktop on my network without buying any additional software.
I live in Middlesbrough and remember reading a few months ago that the CCTV operators in the town centre had been able to stop a young woman being mugged. He spotted what was going to go on and was able to tell the woman someone was behind her via the loud speaker system in the shopping centre. This has to be a good thing.
But as I found out the other day it won't backup locked files in Windows such as System Volume Information. So doing a full backup of your partition without these is pretty useless.
Yeah, Nero Backup is great for doing a backup of a none Windows drive with no locked files, just not your Boot drive.
You want cheap consumer electronic goods? That's what happens i'm afraid. Their manufacture will be farmed out to the cheapest bidder.
And don't just think it's Apple doing this, it's all the big electronics companies.
Hell it's not even just electronics, take the dairy industry. Farmers want a fair price for thier milk, the big supermarkets want cheap milk so you shop at their shops. So the big chains force the farmers into taking less money.
I see the Apple marketing engine has wowed you with all the fancy specs no one has noticed that the display on the MacBook is still not HD (1080i) and where the hell is the 17" version?
A couple of years ago I was applying for a credit card form a company called Egg. I did it all online and you could choose what name you wanted printing on the front of the card.
It did go on to say that it may cause problems and that you may be asked for additional ID if you get anything other than your name put on it.
Mind, I met a guy in a pub once who had his name changed by deed poll to Duncan Disorderly!
For weeks and weeks and weeks I kept getting an "Insufficient privileges" error when trying to bind OS X clients to our domain. I just upgraded from 10.3.7 to 10.3.8 and I can now bind them to the domain!
Damn right! Except Halifax changed my Switch card to a Visa Debit so now when I use that with sites not in the UK it gets processed by PayPal USA and i get charged a 1.50 conversion fee. Bastards!

That's a bit harsh on Tiger users when you yourself can't even construct a sentence with the right words in it!
