To be fair, some of us remember that special gym teacher who taught us that winning isn't important, personal fitness matters, and being a humble victor are important traits.
"...and for admitting that this generation belongs to Nintendo."
Over-generalize and over-hype things much? It's been a little over a year and nobody (sane) is about to call anything on "winners" and "losers" of a console generation. Microsoft has been doing well with the 360, lots of great titles and Live is better than anyone could have imagined... Several sites and people have mentioned that the 360 is making microsoft Money (the Division is still in the red however). Nintendo is still raking in money with the Wii and can't keep them on shelves fast enough. The PS3 is off to a rough start, but perhaps a few good titles due out this year will turn that around for them. I'm no analyst, but this "generation" is far from "won".
Because Japan, for all intents and purposes, is still just a fraction of the larger video game market. The 360 will likely be a major shareholder in the home console market in much of the market outside of Japan. If you like money, and what company doesn't, you need to get your product out to that huge user-base. Not producing a 360 version would alienate a large market of potential sales. Also, don't forget, Final Fantasy isn't even the most popular jrpg in Japan, Dragon Quest is. In North America, Final Fantasy is the popular franchise... precisely where the 360 is the most dominant... ridiculously more so than the PS3.
If you're some sort of tragic square who needs to run Windows
Yeah man, it's like, can ya dig it... these freaky cats at Microsoft they, like, want you to believe they are innovative and shit, but, it's like, they just take ideas man. And ideas want to be free, like beer man, ideas can't be packaged and sold, they need to run free in the wild, man! Hay brother, keep fightin' fascism from those unhip squares at redmond, man... use the tools of the people, spoken word, rhythm and buying apple products, man!
And always modded +5! He either gets mod points for being John Carmack, or he has mastered the ability to post only when you have something truly insightful to say, and not just replying to make a clever joke.
You have misinterpreted my comment. Nothing against Ron Paul, of the candidates running for office in the republican party he is the most intriguing. I know he is actually a Libertarian at heart and I generally vote more socialist, so I wouldn't vote for him personally, but I wouldn't raise ire if he were elected. However I was just commenting on the Congressinal pay system, I don't know anything about Ron Paul's votes or term in the senate.
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant, And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;... Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.
-- Deuteronomy, Chapter 17:2-3,5
I certainly don't think your comment should be hidden, and it provides a great comment. However, it's not like the Christian Bible is any better. Here, anyone who believes in anyone but god is to be stoned to death.
The same Jerry Falwell who said of the Metropolitan Community Church, "...this vile and satanic system will one day be utterly annihilated and there'll be a celebration in heaven."
Looking at that quote sends chills up my spine. Add in '72 virgins' and the comment is a carbon copy statement from any Extremist Muslim.
That's the sheer brilliance of Congressional pay. He doesn't HAVE to vote for a pay increase because they are guaranteed a pay increase unless they vote to NOT get one.
Blah blah blah, more unfounded bashing of the public school system. The Public School system has its problems, obviously, but your posts notes none of them.
I take exceptional offense to your comment "you must spend all your time with the slowest kids, bringing them up to speed, instead of the smartest kids, who could achieve more than everyone else in the class combined if only they were nurtured." Who the hell do you think you are who gets to determine that only the "smart kids" should get to learn... and how are you going to determine who "they" are? ignoring the fact that educating students isn't a one or the other... teachers can educate both slow AND exceptional learners using a variety of differentiated instructions. A student slow to learning during their primary years isn't doomed to a life of abject failure. Funny, adults with children rate public education highly, and people without children rate them poorly.
The best part is, I had never even heard of the game 'V-Tech' until she brought it up. I looked it up and wasted a few minutes until I had to go to work. Thanks Senator Lanza for recommending 'V-Tech Rampage'.
Bah, in my day, the REAL Stone Age, we had to etch hash marks into a nearby rock to save our data. You damn kids and your fancy, rewritable magnetic storage media.
Mostly true. You're right, the attorney firing are completely legal even if abhorrently improper and partisan. The problem is Karl Rove and the party system. If Karl DID use the RNC email accounts to work behind the scenes to fire US attorneys, that IS illegal. In addition, they can fire people for political reasons, they can say "You don't tout the party line", but NOT to damage another party. It is coming to light that many of the fired US attorneys were not willing to tow the administration and the party's suggestions. They wanted US attorneys who would hurt the Democratic party specifically, whether by looking into alleged Democrat voter fraud or individual scandals. Most of the cases they wanted the judges to look into had no standing, but the RNC and the administration didn't want to hear that.
The problem for me is the Attorney General's consistent lying. the more he digs a hole and makes up stories, the more I wonder what REALLY happened in this story. I fully support any investigation even if it turns out to be nothing. I shudder to think what would be going on at the White House if congress was still controlled by the Republican party. At least now there is some oversight. I wouldn't consider myself a member of any political affiliation, but it's clear that when the ruling party controls all branches, it is bound for corruption.
Interesting read. Unfortunately this raises a few more questions for me (stupid wikipedia and link surfing). It states that Apple successfully sued emachines and their eOne computer for "looking" like an iMac. How is this possible if "look and feel" isn't soemthing that can be copyrighted?
Yes yes, we all know that MS copied apple copied xerox... and so on...
But putting aside knee jerk reactions that, "MS is bad" and "OSS is good", could Microsoft have some standing? I've noticed that many Linux versions try to emulate the windows setup, as closely as possible, to entice new users with a sense of familiarity. Many have similar "start" button functions, application bars and menu layouts. All distros certainyl have their own style and have definitely not copied MS, but it is hard to say that they were not inspired by the layout and form of Windows (and OSX too).
Since Windows95, Microsoft and Windows have developed their own brand identity, different from the Apple OS they emulated so long ago... and settled with long ago. Maybe Linux distros, in trying to create familiarity and entice users by creating a similar look and feel of windows, are slightly guilty of some, albeit probably small, degree of infringement.
The military leadership refuses to tell the politicians "NO".
A good read, but I would make one modification to this comment... the Military CAN'T tell the civilian leadership "NO". That is the military's job, to execute orders given to them without question. Generals like Eaton and Batiste retired from an illustrious military career so that they COULD speak out. I have a feeling that there is a much larger number of military leadership that is disgusted with the current administration's policy than is currently speaking out, they just can't.
I've spent too much time on the internet... my initial thought was that this was going to be a goatse joke. Of course, that's impossible since goatse is definitely NOT invisible.
I call bullshit. Most of your claims are flat-out false.
The girlfriend part should have tipped you off immediately!

Actually, that role is being played by John Leguizamo.

Well, his album 'Sweet Baby James' was phenomenal... oh wait, Jack Thompson, you're right, no.
