I can understand not wanting to lose jobs but then I also understand that this is our home. The only one we have got. And if we loss that then we have nothing.
Kyoto may not be the best idea but it is the only one we have got, so the fact that the US ponit blank refuse to be part of it shows how little respect they have for this plaent we call our home.
It looks like it is going to be a close one. I would have to say that I think Bush should get the ASS card but I fear that is not going to happen.
But it really does not matter who is in power the rich will get rich and the poor will be sent off to kill all in the name of Freedom. Flamebait - YOU DAMN RIGHT!!!
I think Oprah and Hillary Clinton should team up for the next one. That would kick ass. It is about time the woman had a go at running things. I think they would do a fucking great job.
I have had a look at it and it just the same game GTA was, it might look better, it might have more stuff to do, you might be able to lay the beat down in new ways but big deal at the core it is some dude been a bad ass- YAY its not like it is any different in that respect to GTA.
I am over it - next game please. But props to Rockstar for milking it, fuck I would. Its all and the $$ bill BABY!!!
I too wish you luck and am in the same boat, I to hear the words "but we are a MS house" even after pointing out the cost saving in software alone but I still get the big fuck off.
But this is how I look at it you are the client and if IBM want to keep you they should support what ever Linux you want to install and from my point of view I think debian is a better than Redhat or Suse. I have friends who work at ISP that run on debian alone.
You do know that OS X is based of Unix? BSD was the bases that Solaris used as was OS X. And come on I have yet to see another GUI for Unix that is as easy to used as OS X.
What I would like to see Sun to is to add to the Open Power Architecture that IBM is doing now. Sun has pretty much said they are going to be dropping there CPU so why not added the best parts to the IBM CPUs.
No it has not been confirmed and I would think it will(Officially) but I think it is say to say that they would have put alot of presure on them to ink this deal.
Well that is true but the only thing they write is Office and they build that on to of OS X, they did not write any part of OS X. Wirting an app for a RISC chip and building a OS is very different.
Well it was DEC that wrote NT for the Alpha mostly and when MS stopped building it for DEC then most of the guy moved back to DEC and I am pretty sure you will find that the the guys that ported CE to RISC worked for the chip makers(I could be wrong in this case)
"Sony is using a different CPU (Cell), and probably a different GPU, why doesn't the same argument apply to them?" That is easy, Sony never had a problem with people running Linux on the PS 2, that is not the case with MS they went to great pains to try a stop it. The fact that i know quite a few people that have turned there XBox into media center. I think the reson MS has gone for the RISC with there own microcode is to stop people doing what they have been doing to the XBox.
I think old Steve is getting far to high off his own hype. As it stands Sony is number 1 and I do not see that been any different with the next version of the game console. The reason I think this is becasue of the big change in the XBox 2. They are using a different CPU(IBM RISC), a new GPU(ATI) adding there own microcode to the CPU to stop people doing what they have been doing to the current XBox.
It also means(and this is what I think)that you will not be able to play XBox games on the XBox 2, they will have to re-write DirectX, build a RISC OS for it and then there is Live I would say there will have to re-write most of that as well. MS has never writen software for RISC in the past and I think that the time frame they have set themself is very unrealistic.
Now if you look at how Sony they have had far more years under there belt in the console market, they have partnered up with some good people to bring the PS 3 to life and have build a technology that they are plaining on putting in there other product(Cell).
Saying all that I am looking forward the XBox 2 and think it is a good step for MS in there battle for the console market. Do I think they will catch up with Sony, no but I think they will make money off the XBox 2 and that is a good out look for the future of the XBox console. May be the XBox 3 will be the one that turns the tide.
First they tag the kids, then they tag the crims. Then it is only a matter of time before we all have a RFID tag. This makes me want to read 1984 again.
That is easy, it would mean that any site could be viewed by any broswer. MS has done what it has done to IE for the purpose of getting people to write site/app that will only run right on IE. A good example is.Net..Net classes pretty much all other broswers as down level apart for IE 5.5 and above. So you will never get a.Net app running %100 on Mozilla.
This is also the same for other standards they have changed. I think it is a very good idea to leave MS out in the cold. They have done nothing but cause problems becasue of IE.
Of course it was not going to be backwards compatible, they are going to be using a IBM RISC chip with some of there own micro code in it and the fact that they have moved away for NVidia and going with ATI. I am pretty sure NVidia is not going to hand over the spec for there XBox chip so ATI can add it in.
But I really do not see a problem with it not being able to run XBox games. If you look over the history of games consoles Sony is the only one that has done it(As far as I know). I have to say I am looking forward to seeing the new machine. I will say that I think the PS3 is going to kick its ass but I have always gone for Sony over other game consoles so my view is tainted.
I think it is very possible that it happened to that guy as he states. IE is shit and with the amount holes and exploits it does not surprise me one bit what has happened to this guy. The DOJ need to pull an EU on MS over this, force them to install other browsers along side IE. If they are so confident in how good IE is over other browsers then they have nothing to worry about by adding other ones. I would then make them fire all the developers/TAs/BAs and testers that have every touched IE code. For the amount of money/time and sanity IE has cost people all over the world MS needs to be held accountable for there crimes.
No it does not stop IBM but as has happened in the past if Sun do not like the changes IBM might have made then they will not include it into Java. And that is fair enough, it is there Ip after all.
The push to open source it was so that IBM and other could put what ever they want into it to benerfit there App servers. So good on Sun for saying no.
There has been no major IE updates but there has been plenty of Hotfixes to it. I read a while ago that MS is not likey to do any major work on IE until Longhorn comes out. Gratned this was before they said they are now brining out a XP updated version so you mgiht see a change with IE in that.
But let be real here IE blows the mighty goat. It is slow, uses lots of memory and is not secure. I moved to Mozilla years ago becasue I got sick of having to patch IE every other day.
I have been buying CDs for years and it was always been my understanding that I could make a copy for backup so if my CD can no longer play then I have a copy can still listen and as long as I keep the CD I am covered, just like software.
Now with that in mind if the person who a CD that has CD Protection(Which you can get around by using CDEX or Easy CD Extractor) then I can not see how someone that downloads the MP3s of the CD that he or she owns is breaking copy right. After all these people have spent there money to buy CD and wish to listen to it on there MP3 player.
If I am wrong please let me know
On a personal note: Now I would sooner buy CDs then buy music on-line becasue the audio quality of a CD is better than most of the on-line music stores offer and then you can rip the CD down to an MP3/OGG/FLAC(which is what I am going to be doing with all mu CDs)or what every format you wish. It gives you the freedom of choice which is something I think they are trying to take away from us.
From what I heard it is used XP Embedded with an access database. Are these people on CRACK or something.
I feel sorry for you Yanks. You live in a land of confusion with the a guy that is more like the Scarecrow from OZ running the show. May the sane once again rule some day but until that time I am going to be hiding under my bed.
I can understand not wanting to lose jobs but then I also understand that this is our home. The only one we have got. And if we loss that then we have nothing.

I think it is a good quote for the fact it made me laugh
New Zealand might be small but by fuck we have some fucking smart people. Props to Mozilla, you have the fine NZ hookup!!!
I too wish you luck and am in the same boat, I to hear the words "but we are a MS house" even after pointing out the cost saving in software alone but I still get the big fuck off.

I do not think you can. I have been using Mozilla for years and have never ran across anything like that.
I guess what you could do is download the source and build a custom version for you company - L33T H@x!!!!
Well that is true but the only thing they write is Office and they build that on to of OS X, they did not write any part of OS X. Wirting an app for a RISC chip and building a OS is very different.

Listen to a A Tribe Called Quest less chance of been hacked
I am going to go patent the CANDO list that I have just created on my note pad - paper version.

Yea I never though OGG would be chosen but at least they did not chose WMA and for that I think we can all be thankful.

It looks pretty ave to me. I do not think I would even waste the bandwidth downloading it
I have been buying CDs for years and it was always been my understanding that I could make a copy for backup so if my CD can no longer play then I have a copy can still listen and as long as I keep the CD I am covered, just like software.
