I just find it a sad commentary on society that violence is more acceptable than nudity.
I 100% disagree with both your premise and conclusion. First off your premise is bogus since murder carries a much stiffer punishment than public nudity. Your conclusion is bogus because even if the premise was true, it is no commentary on society since violence and the threat thereof is often necessary to defend said society, so why should there be any stigma inherent in violence?
You should try thinking for yourself sometime and not just repeating what Howard Stern says.
Nintendo is not an American company. It is not traded on the American exchanges like Sony and Microsoft are. Press about Nintendo is not as useful to the people who actually get "gaming" news from the MSM, except to give perspective compared to Sony and Microsoft, and yes in the American market it is relatively doom and gloom for Nintendo. This is all logical and matter-of-course.
And for a little perspective on rushing things... The GBA and Xbox both came out in 2001. The NDS is already out. Nintendo is the one complaining about the pace of the console cycle. This does not make sense. I'm just saying.
Bush pushed Vietnam into the campaign? I salute your skills at revisionism, comrade. All who disagree with be sent to the gulag for reeducation by skilled ministers with torture devices. John Kerry the haughty, French-looking Massachusetts Democrat, who by the way served in Vietnam, NEVER looked to make his work in and around the Vietnam War a campaign issue or even involved it in any way in any political race or issue he ever participated in. You can believe no less!
One of the points he makes is that reviewers assume that they are the be-all and end-all of the video game consumer. I have seen many reviews lately of games intended for children that either fail to take this into account at all, or dismiss it as not an excuse for simpler controls and/or gameplay. It doesn't seem helpful to anyone to pan a game in gamespy or ign or whereever, when its intended for individuals who don't even read that site. If these sites insist on reviewing the game, and the reviewer doesn't not possess the expertise to put themselves in the head of the intended player, why not let a little kid write the review? At least it will be funny, if not more accurate.
ESPN and Fox Sports Net cover more and more poker everyday. Poker is playing cards, so at least the "Worldwide Leader in Sports" considers it a sport. Spelling bees too. Not that this proves video games are a sport, but the evidence you present is weak.
It's shit like this that has cost you the almost all of international support and goodwill that was apparent in the aftermath of September 11th.
I can only assume your post is a troll, but I'll bite only cause its fun...
So we should be grateful over temporary goodwill "earned" out of the aftermath of an international tragedy? And a few silly comments on a message board are enough to burn that up? All the while Chirac envisioning France and Europe as a counterweight to America? Doesn't sound like there was much support or goodwill to begin with. You grow up. Look back through history, France has only supported America when if futher supported French interests. And no matter when France might have been our ally in the past, they are no longer. They see themselves as a counter to America. Doesn't sound like an ally to me.
Ridicule the cheese-eating surrender monkeys at will Americans. They are doing it to you on French message boards. Je promets.
You've been up and down this thread bashing it. The people that I know that imported one love it and the developers that I know that have worked with it are busting a nut. But hey, you fanboy up huh?
Here we go... 1. False. I have played the PSP. The games look like PS2 games. Everyone who has seen the PSP launch titles in action is amazed and learns what a joke the DS is in terms of horsepower. 2. The battery thing isn't an issue. Unless you are the kind of cat that routinely has marathon handheld gaming sessions. If you are, maybe it is a problem, but I'm not. 3. Who cares? Music playback is a bonus that comes free. Don't like it? Keep your Ipod. Considering Nintendo didn't see fit to include it for free, music playback is automatically a wash at worst and a sweet bonus at best. 4. Once again, its a matter of the player. Noone will use the wireless on either system except for the hardest of the core (thats you fanboy) so it doesn't matter. Once again, nice bonus nothing more. 5. If this point is REALLY still about the batteries, see my #2. 6. See #3. Did Nintendo give us any free such option? It will also play UMD movies, which I hear will come with some DVDs. 7. Yeah, cause Nintendo always has killer 3rd party support. But hey, if you really need to pay for the rereleased NES classics again Nintendo is glad to oblige! 8. What does a touch-screen have to do with anything? Talk about irrational defense of Nintendo. At any rate, for most people the price isn't an issue. This isn't a device parents will buy for their kids, its clearly for big boys. So you play Touch the Pokemon over wifi with the other grade schoolers and we'll play big boy games. Price isn't an issue as long as its within even $100 of the NDS once everyone see P. Diddy and Kanye West with one. 9. The screen is very nice. If you have to turn it into an attack on photo viewing capability, well you showed how much you are stretching in your post better than I could. 10. I would assume more IS coming for the PSP. This is in contrast with the NDS which has already shown all its tricks. And we know how often Nintendo releases all those promised add-ons here in America! I mean, didn't such a misstep let Sony in the game in the first place? Let me just check the back of all my old Nintendo consoles for all those ports and expansion slots that were never used... 11. I'm just glad you haven't let your unrequited love for the Nintendo Corporation get in the way of your critical thinking.
Don't fear the PSP. If you don't like it, just don't buy one!
he arbitrarly decides to enforce (for the first time in a while) some "decency" bullshit with the Super Bowl
Thats a tough one. To demonstrate anything was arbitrary about the action, one would have to show a pattern of ignoring SOME over-air broadcast instances of intentionally showing a bare, aging titty during a Sunday evening football game watched by tens of millions of people. What were the dates and times of the instances that this administration, or any other really, ignored?
Does it really matter to you what the Europeans think? They have their traditions and we have ours. One of ours is not showing aging titties on broadcast television at certain times of the day. It hasn't interfered with anyone's ability to deliver political speech yet, and I have yet to hear a compelling arguement that allowing bare titties on TV is necessary. I mean, if the Europeans are participating in the UNSCAM Oil-for-Guns program, does that mean we should too?
You can agree with the actions taken or not, but calling it arbitrary exposes you as an irrational fearmonger.
Would what? If the point wasn't that based on small town experience it has been shown how "evil" Wal-Mart is and isn't good for anyone, then why was that exactly what was said? Say something stupid like presuming to know what is good for the world based on one's own little block of it is bound to draw sarcastic sneering. Don't blame me for any perceived sneering, I guess I had no choice.
I guess. Or people that don't pay for things will keep downloading them and people that do will keep buying them in the store. This would be a highly inconvenient way to acquire the goods.
Oh, and expect safe-disc and online registration, et al to proliferate. One side pushes, the other side pushes back. Its not a classic paradox, its classic escalation in warfare.
I don't know about those, but the campaign in Inglewood was a failure for Wal-Mart. But of course, if one is a voter living in Inglewood, I am inclined to question one's economic savvy. I will not deny them the right to do what they want to their community, however, or try to tell them whats best for them.
Ouch, well clearly whats good for your small community is good for everyone! Even inner-cities with no good jobs to lose in the first place! Man I wish I both knew what was better for everyone else based on my small community experience AND had the mod points to enforce my views on others.
Not a problem in CA. We wise blue staters make laws so that Wal-Marts cannot be opened here. Wouldn't want Wal-Mart going into Inglewood and pushing all those mom and pop bailbondsmen, race track/casinos and obsolete sporting arenas out of business.
Was this intentionally omitted by the story's submitter? Was this version of the story specifically selected by the editor because of this omission? Or was the summary edited before post? Lies, damn lies, and Slashdot selective reality.
I'm supposed to fear and demonize people who don't want an aging titty on during the Super Bowl when Gore, Lieberman et al have been trying to ban music and video games for years? Please.
Well if they actually get the years federal sentencing guidelines call for, your post will look pretty foolish. The man is now facing two seperate and independent trials which will start in 2005. But in the meantime, YEAH KILL WHITEY. RICH PEOPLE ARE EVIL LETS LOCK THEM ALL UP! PUT THEM TO THE GUILLOTINE!
Or, it may be more like he grabbed all your jewels but had a hole in his pocket and they fell on your kitchen floor on the way out and he didn't notice. Thats why we have the beautiful laws of failed attempts. However, since noone will care about this case after tomorrow, I'm sure we'll never know precisely what happened.
I just find it a sad commentary on society that violence is more acceptable than nudity.

Rise of Korean Pop.
Cola from Korea? That will be the day.
Ah, so we nearly need threaten to remove such protection to get what we want. Carry on Iceland.
It's going to be funny to see the Icelanders, who are already an incredibly literate and well educated people, will do with all the loot.
If they know whats good for them? Guns. Lots of guns.

You typed politics.slashdot.org and I think you meant democraticunderground.com. That sort of "fake but accurate" crap doesn't fly in the real world.
Nevertheless all of these acts are morally repugnant.
Who says?
Right, cause Sony is this tiny little company with victim written all over them.
When perception diverges from reality, there you will find Slashdot.

Fishing online? That would be sick. I'd buy it just so I could paddle up to other boats and yell into the mic to scare fish away. Good times.
