...is that they usually seem to be about filling out a point to meet a word limit and not about getting to the point.
I think this arises because "the point" is usually nothing profound in itself so the only thing you can do to stand out is blabber on in a particularly well way.
Being a scientist I'm necessarily biased about anything that can be called an "essay". The closest thing in science is probably a review paper but that also should be as concise as possible.
I didn't say it was just Switzerland, UK and France just mentioned them because CERN is IN Switzerland and France and a lot of the Grid is in UK.
the E in CERN stands for European. of course there will be other nationalities involved since science is international but it's still a European centre.
your joke being funny not withstanding, that's a map of America, probably the least relevant place to show for this particular project.
CERN and Grid is European, notably Switzerland, France and UK.
the USA has plenty of great particle physics of its own (excitable New Yorkers beware - there's a particle accelerator on your doorstep - think of the children!) but this is not one of them.
I tried it, it was okay but crashed a bit. plus I couldn't get it to say that an event lasted from a certain time on one day until a certain time several days later.
if they make it so I can sync with my P900 that'd be a big plus.
some time ago... -"the laws of Newton and Kepler don't explain the orbit of Mercury. The theory itself needs a change." -"oh teh no3s U R teh fl4meba!tz0rrrzzzzz!!!!!one"
Sometimes something new is needed. This is called progress and is strongly associated with the concept of learning from your mistakes.
1. that Doom3 shot is a cutscene (?) whereas the HL2 one is real-time action. 2. the Doom3 one is the main character whereas the HL2 one is just a random NPC.
how about comparing the facial animation of G-Man to some random Doom3 guy?
why are so many people so retarded when it comes to understanding the concept of pre-loading?
if you look into it, you'll find its mostly just textures and stuff.
why can't you understand the concept that not every single file needs to be recompiled (or compiled at all) and tested.
jesus. this isn't some crappy horror film where you need to retest all the.wavs on every build in case one was possessed by a demon and kills anyone who listens.
>Barr called Dell seeking help formatting, partitioning and reloading Windows XP. "I got a tech in India who spoke British English. I am 73, speak Alabama English and use two hearing aids. We both experienced some understanding problems."
>One communications snag: The rep didn't realize that when Barr said "oh" he meant the number, not the letter.
wtf is Alabama English? you can't just make up your own languange and expect it to be supported. this is just arrogance. if you don't want to speak or type properly that's fine but you live with the consequences.
it'd be like someone from London speaking cockney rhyming slang and expecting that to be understood.
you should always speak in the most clear and correct way when making a non-personal phone call, including additional redundancy e.g. "A for apple".

I blame schools.
I calculated that after bills, a single song is worth under an hour of me existing.
so I could buy 24 a day every day. but beer is better.
since most songs are ~3 minutes long they should call it even and let you have it for free
agreed having karma effected by politics is going to be fucking ridiculous and every 2nd post will be flamebait or troll.
agreed.
their attitude seems "we can't make better software so lets just fuck about with pricing schemes".
seems to be inspired by the mobile phone ringtone market - pieces of crap served at $1+ a pop to people who don't know better.

imagine a beowulf cluster of Half-Life 2 preloads! ;-)
if you RTFA you'd realise they are testing many different model universes to see which most accurately represents our own Universe.
well was the last time you checked in 1930?
when I tried 9am Sunday till 3pm Friday it made it 9am-3pm for each of Sunday-Friday which is not the same thing.

I hate the parent kind of comment, but it invariably gets modded insightful.
Just because A is insecure and B is insecure does not mean A and B are equal in terms of security.
*gasp* *gasp* *gasp*
no I think the "scientific" response would be to do a whole new protocol but one which allows compatibility with SMTP with large warning signs.
just like General Relativity was an entirely new theory but gives the same results as Newton so long as you don't have large masses/high speeds etc.
who marked this flamebait?

yes, one penny per ring or part ring.
I get one over on them by putting it on silent instead.

have you seen the facial detail and animation?
it blows Doom 3 out of the water and over the horizon.
have you noticed all the little programs Google releases?
have you noticed how many are Windows only?
I would expect this new search to consider both file name and file content, otherwise it is indeed redundant.
Google is on the /. "good list" (and with reason), but its support for linux hasn't been inspirational so far.

you can't be bothered doing this? tough.
see question above.
Get the crossfade plugin.
XMMS+Crossfade is great for things like LOTR soundtrack or just regular albums where songs go over tracks - no horrible pauses.
I just wish it had decent album management. imo Musicmatch Jukebox has the best library management system.
