i used to do my term papers on my trusty apple//e with a cpm card from microsoft, using WordStar. printed out on a old dot matrix printer. sure beat finding a Vt-100 terminal with the batch printers on campus.
it won't work for most physician's offices. why? because it's so expensive! i just had a 100% increase in my malpractice premium, my staff is asking for a raise, my rent is increasing. i can get four cheap used laptops and stick them in my exam room for one of those tablet pc's
the other reason is... there are no good, cheap electronic medical records out there!
i remember the//e rom upgrade had some windowing extras built into it. the/// also had something similar. the mac pretty much killed it that progress. no login capabilites for the apple 2 series that i remember though
the apple site shows that you can play solitare with it. the docking station looks like a pda docking station. i'd like to see it sync to Outlook, and we'll see apple return to the pda market in a big way. put some wireless capabilities and i'll buy it!
i just got the tungsten t, and though i like it, the battery life sucks compared to previous models. i have to keep the thing in a charger every day. my old USR palm pilot went weeks before a new battery. i understand the need to keep up with the pocket pc's but one thing palm shouldn't emulate is battery life. the blue tooth is cool though, and eats up less batteries than wifi. i'm tempted to get a bluetooth access point with a bigger coverage. voip would be cool too.
the most effective way to use your palm is to have someone else fill up your calender and phone numbers.
"The phone is due to go on sale in Asia in 2003 and could reach Europe soon after. The Motorola spokesman said that Asia was the best place for the initial launch because the market for smart phones was much more developed there. "
i guess i'll still have to use that motorola brick for now.
as a surgeon, i have my misgivings about these types of surgery. the easy surguries a 4th year medical student can do. the hard ones are what we get paid for. laparoscopic surgery can have severe complications, like poking a big vessel called the AORTA. you need someone who can open up a patient and stop the bleeding RIGHT AWAY. there are times when you just can't use laparoscopy also, and you need actual feel. cost-wise, it may be cheaper buy a bus ticket for the patient to get the consultation 400 km away, than for every hospital in the country to have these robots in the OR.
"Sony Computer Entertainment becomes concerned that, because RockSteady is built on BlackRhino GNU/Linux, it will not be compatible with future PlayStation hardware revisions. Therefore, RockSteady is not published and joins BlackRhino in limbo while xRhino pursues other projects."
does this mean people will not be able to use the PS2 Linux platform to produce commercial games? Is sony misleading the linux community by providing the kit?
i have the kit, but got tired of the retread RedHat on it. It will be nice to use Debian for a change!
were they expecting to be slashdotted?

dynamism is selling some cool looking computer mice designed by anime greats... now only if it came wireless, i'd get them!

i got one of these, and the problem i had was getting the WEP to work on it. i have it bridged to a linksys wap 11, but could not get security to work on it.. so i have an unsecure wireless ap now... good thing i live in Nowhere.
it's kinda amusing that instead of creating an ocillator, it "cheated", and grabbed signals from another computer. i wonder how the game theorists would explain that?

my father-in-law still has his accounting program that he created on a Heathkit Z80 in basic, running on his Pentium 4 2ghz machine.
That episode must have been the best series ender ever.
m-audio is also known as midiman. i have a delta 410 running on my debian box.. no problem
i think there's a licensing issue here. lets see who gets sued first
