  5. Re:give me back physical buttons on my car radio on Ask Slashdot: What Single Change Would You Make To a Tech Product? · · Score: 1

I run two 12" JL woofers flat out all the time. Some recordings have more bass than others. Minor adjustments must be made, to maximize bass, while avoiding damage, or muddy sound.

  6. Non-volatile memory in my car stereo on Ask Slashdot: What Single Change Would You Make To a Tech Product? · · Score: 1

I grow weary of having to reset: radio stations, EQ, crosser points, disable animation.... every time I have to disconnect my battery. Memory is cheap, why is this a still a thing? Hell, just write a small file to the thumb drive that stores all my music.

Word! I hate have to take my eyes off the road, and go through menu levels, just to turn the bass down a little.

I still use hammers. I drive far more nails with nailguns. Usually compressed air powered. A friend swears by his internal combustion nailguns.

Hammers are for setting nails, demolition, or when I have fewer than a dozen nails to drive.

  12. Re: Why is this treated differently on Calif. Court Rules Businesses Must Reimburse Cell Phone Bills · · Score: 1

Require? perhaps not exactly. I have to claim to be out of nails, to get many contractors to buy more. Same goes for glue, utility knife blades, Sawzall blades, grinder blades, chalk line chalk, pencils.... Tool wise carpenters must provide a small truckload of their own tools. (yes hourly/not 1099) You couldn't rent my tools, for my hourly wage. Then there's wear and tear. Especially with cordless tools, and their limited battery lifespan. Bosses should provide or reimburse for more tools. But, with a never ending supply of desperate, cheap labour, they are unlikely to do so.

  14. Ha ha! on Study Questions H-1B Policies · · Score: 1

Sucks when cheap foreign labor floods in and crushes your wages doesn't it? I'd feel bad for you, but when blue collar Americans complain about cheap foreign labor, you just call them "redneck", xenophobe, racist...and ignore their issues.

  15. they came for the labor jobs and I said nothing... on Cringley: H-1B Visa Abuse Limits Wages and Steals US Jobs · · Score: 1

Oh noes, cheap foreign labor is affecting white collar jobs. I'd play my tiny fiddle for you , but I hocked it, because cheap foreign labor took my blue collar job. Opps mustn't complain about Latin Americans taking jobs in the trades, that's racist. Complaining about South, and East Asians taking IT jobs is OK, though.

  16. Oh boo hoo on Labor Department Downplays Offshoring · · Score: 1

When we blue collar Americans, complain that illegal immigration is affecting our ability to make a living wage, the common response is essentially "Shut up you ignorant racist." Now that it's white collar jobs that are being lost to foreign labor, suddenly it's a major tragedy. Well, 'scuse me if I don't shed a tear for you.
