He then kept on agreeing on a sale price, and then upping his price, until he started demanind in excess of £1,000,000 for the domain, and then came up with some spiel about GAME being in competition with a fictitious company for the domain. He should have accepted their offer of £1,000,000 and ran - his perjury has cost him all.

This, in spite of the clear pecuniary advantages, would never take off in the UK. The reason? Joe Bloggs - the degree of NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) syndrome in this country is phenomenal - people object to mobile phone masts 2 miles away, because they're putting out evil rays which make you die - they put wireless companies under more and more pressure until they're forced by court writ to remove the mast, and, guess what, people complain that their phones don't work any more. Fucking idiots.

Also, what's the betting that this chucks out a *lot* more hairy-scary radiation than a mobile phone (cellphone) mast?

  19. Re:'gain a relative economical advantage'.. on Kyoto Protocol Comes Into Force · · Score: 1, Offtopic

Yes, but the US still should not be held responsible for this - it is not America's fault that their emissions are so high - it's because all of the jet aeroplanes flying from China to India go through US airspace. Also, it's due largely to sabotage by the British - they have been secretly coming to America for hundreds of years, and the population is now massive, so of course they create more CO2.

So, the real solution should not be for America to join the Kyoto protocol, it should be for the US to start shooting down those pesky indo-chinese planes, and to force mass emmigration of all those british, danish, irish, and spanish descended CO2 producing bastards. Only the real Americans will be left, and then everything'll be just peachy.

  20. Re:I wonder if Kim Jong-Il is dead? on North Korea Admits to Having Nuclear Weapons · · Score: 5, Interesting

Kim Jong-Il has always been dead. We have always been at war with EastAsia....

In all seriousness, it doesn't matter if KJI is dead or not - the North Korean regime is here to stay - no amount of military force will change that - it is *far* too deeply ingrained in the majority of the populace there. Having visited NK some years ago on a tourist visa (which is like gold dust) I was, I must confess, rather surprised by what I found. Generally, in urban areas, the quality of life was good - party members lived comfortably, others less comfortably, but a lot better than much of what you'll see in the western world. We weren't allowed into the countryside, however, so.....

Short of a popular revolution, which isn't going to happen, nothing will change the situation there. It's perfectly possible that they have a nuclear capability, but they aren't quite the mad-cap nation the western media seems to wish to portray them as.

The degree of control held over the populace by the state there is astounding - it would be extraordinarily hard for anyone to organise any kind of dissent - the vast majority are party supporters, and the last thing you want to do is criticise the government in front of someone who can make you disappear.

Juche is their way of life. They have no real wish to expand, they just want to be left alone. For now, at any rate.
