If it's not cell phones it's note passing...
Let the ones who want to learn, learn.
The ones who goof off can goof off as long as it's doesn't blatantly disrupt the class.
Real life is just around the corner and I wonder who will be better off...
This is like bitching about the "internet" requiring a browser...
Do you need it, really? No, you can use telnet to port 80 - but it certainly makes the experience better.
Yahoo, like google doesn't -JUST- provide a search engine nad I hope you've noticed that. In my world at least Yahoo definately has it going on with YUI - so much so that google homepages are using yui components
Theow thet idea out.
You can't assume all users have a standard on how they are built- Some have long skinny fingers, other stalky bulky fingers. You might be using one hand or both hands at any given time this can sway those logical variables.
Not safe assumptions. With a full qwerty layout I turn the T9 off and enjoy the fact that there's a backspace and I get messages off faster than a person with T9+Qwerty and T9+standard keypad.
I find this alarming. I have a feeling we're about to see the dawn of per-process licenses...
Then the licensing will implode upon itself in the future, similar to cellular minutes - "They're you're processes - use them!" - unfortunately that wouldn't happen until the pockets are nice and fat on some companies...
You're putting too much on the line if you transition into the patchwork quilt that is freelancing / 'contracting' for primary income. Freelancing / contracting is not the walk in the park, I do my own business thing everyone thinks it is. You -MUST- have clients, which means you -MUST- kiss ass at some point. There is _NO_ selectivity in the contractor world. You don't just pick who and who not to do business with.
1. You will experience the same beaurocratical mish mash from any and possibly all companies you work with
2. You have to attune yourself to the many ways of 'doing things' from other companies.
As said before, if you want to do it part time, don't expect anything to be done 'on time' because they're communication and beurocratical b.s. will slow everything down, which means you extra 'paychecks' on the side come in slower. In the end, the extra money may not be worth the time or stress of having to juggle the projects...
Remember, anytime you start contracting/freelancing, you're not your own boss - you have SEVERAL BOSSES (We call these clients to delude ourselves).
Dunno about you but the farmers up here in the northern midwest often burn their fields after they're done harvesting for the ash and quick 'reset' of the field.
I think you probably mean B and D.
Depending on how critical an issue is, D would be a proper course of action, followed up with B (kind of) - teaching the person about the issue so they come out with insight, making things better for everyone.
"You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike...what do you do?".
Without the specific properties of this maze, I wouldn't budge an inch. If it was one of those hedge mazes I'd plow through the bushy walls in a straight line until I'm out, could you elaborate more on my scenario?
"I need to get all the primes less than 1000, and all I have are these punch-cards...go."
I'll admit I don't understand this, if I'm allowed a pencil I'd hand write a crappy function that would place the primes under 1000 into an array....
With the countless geeks with their *nix boxen running 24-7 at home for their unabashed uptime competition with themselves - I think datacenters are pretty efficient considering their purpose and great lengths they go for critical support.
I think there's bigger fish to fry, like the great idea of changing daylight savings time, which in the end didn't save us any energy but sure as hell cost the IT industry a pocket's worth!
P.s.: I turned off my spare 24" Dell display just for a good conscience for the last 3 minutes, there I did my part for the year....
I can agree with that. The '+' is additiion -and- space in urlencoded strings.
I would really like to see php start being consistent with their function naming.
str_replace, strlen, strtolower... they need to fix that shit!
Phone book. Names, phone numbers addresses, all public. get over it!
I work at a college in IT and students don't think twice about raveling off stuff that's even considered private.
My dad sells cars, he brought me with because there's public data available at the county recorders office, I walked out of there with my dad after emailing some 34,000 names, addresses and phone numbers to my dad's email account for his silly mailers. All 100% legal.
Useless or not, it's a good piece of mind knowing there's some tactless scanning going on our interstates - sometimes the most shunned methods can have some surprising results. Hopefully they can minimize the negative impact on the borders.

My typo could go two ways: nad = and or nad = nad,

Why are we still putting quotes around 'definitive evidence' ?
I'd say an impact wiping out life would be much much more likely in that course of time, so who cares? Oh wait... this ... would be that impact ...
See!

I can imagine the headlines now - people riding those bikes will get beat up and ripped off of all that shiny equipment.$$$
Probably blocked everything VoIP related to force airphones on you.

That's probably why they take payment in some strange currency known as 'roses' ?
They're = their. Before the Grammar Nazis come out of the woodworks.
Well put, poster sounds like they're starting to get tired with the drudgery of Development, sometimes the simple jobs are a breath of fresh air.

On the positive side Al Gore would be wrong and he couldn't make another movie blaming humans for the demise of earth.

Or,
Girls = Time * Money
Time = Money
Thus:
Girls = Money * Money = Money^2
Money = sqrt(Evil)
Therefore: Girls = (sqrt(Evil))^2
Simplified: Girls = Evil (Shamelessly stolen from an old 'funny internet' picture)
