Maybe they were in the past, now they are just the industry leader in market share (which seemingly goes down every year). When does the EU leave MS alone, when Apple over takes them in market share?

I'm not one of the people who's answer for everything is "let the market decide".. but to me it seems like the regulations against MS in the past are working. In the US, at least, I see more and more people getting Apple laptops. I don't think MS is a monopoly any more.

Well, as someone working in the auto industry, I've seen first hand how this is not true. We have many suppliers that are in trouble simply because Ford or GM has scaled back their production so much. I work for an automaker that still is profitable.. but we're getting hit hard because of supplier closings.

For example, if Supplier X makes 1000 widgets per day, they have the employees, the equipment, and the building to do it efficiently and cost effectively. If,due to demand, you can only sell 400 widgets per day the overhead becomes so enormous you are no longer a competative business.

Now maybe my whole take on this is wrong.. but..

Anyone with satelite or cable already is fine. The only people who are going to have issues are those with analog antennas. The converter box or a digital antenna will cost about $30.

I understand $30 is still too much for some people, which is why the government had a program to assist. The problem is the doomsday scenario the media made it out to be that probably caused tens of thousands of people to request a voucher without actually needing it. It took over a year for me to convince my grandmother and my parents that their cable was already digital and they would have no issues, even if their TVs were 8-10 years old. Hell, even people selling TVs a year or two ago were providing confusing information.

Maybe not all cable is digital yet.. I guess I assume since my area has been digital for the past decade+ (small town ohio) that just about everyone should be.
