I have a 56" DLP and have never experienced those symptoms... I also have a Nintendo Wii that causes me to get up and move around while focusing on the TV and still have never felt like it was making my eyes fatigued.
Honda has been develloping CIGS technology for a few years now. I believe they are already selling these type of solar panels in Japan. http://world.honda.com/news/2005/c051219.html
You know it's a bad omen when the initials for your game "DNF" is construed as "Did Not Finish" in the racing world. Maybe it really should be DNS (duke nukem someday).
You let one kid talk back and soon enough you have 5 more kids pushing the boundries. Teens are pack animals... Heck, I'll admit to being part of the pack a few times when I was in high school. New teachers were especially vulnerable.
Every classroom had one kid that would challenge authority. If the teacher handled the situation in a way the class understood shenanigans would not be tolerated, the class would be better. If the teacher allowed someone to talk back in a way that could be conceived as defiant, they could lose the entire class.
When my parents were in school and were disobedient like that to the teacher they would've been spanked in front of the entire class. Now we're worried about a kid getting a detention for mouthing off to a teacher?
I know when I was in high school if someone publically challenged one of the teachers it was to show off or an attempt to discredit the teacher... not due to 'open thought'.
There is one reason why high school teachers should have the final say, maturity. High school aged kids lack it.
I'm in an Ohio town of about 25k people, everyone is migrating to satellite anyway. The only thing worth the cost from Time Warner is their 3-in-1 package of internet/phone/digital cable... until they randomly jack up the price and you realize that it's cheaper for satellite and you get many more channels that come standard.
I'd rather the farmers be given subsidies to let their fields fallow and return to forest/prairie land. Would be the only way to keep them from selling off land to suburban sprawl. I think the investment would be worth it. Here is $X per year per acre to not do anything to the land. Habitat revival, CO2 offsets....
People are being sent there without just trial! You say "bill of rights + constitution" do not apply, how about the laws of the country where they were taken from? How about human rights?
Not that I disagree with you.. but I wouldn't say some of these people had many rights to begin with living under the Taliban rule.
I've never broken a bone in my life and I played football, baseball and soccer. But the ribs and the collar bone can break easily if hit just right.
Heck, just last week my friend's father-in-law broke three ribs of a friend of mine with a simple arm tackle.. and this was a guy who got out of the army just a few years ago.. so he'd definitely gone through contact before.
I'd have to agree with you. It doesn't seem that the mass of a battery (or a cell phone in general) would be high enough to do the damage described in the article.
Maybe the cell phone battery exploded, he started to panic because it burned, and he fell on a table edge and broke is back.. ribs break easily so just a normal fall could cause that.
I was with you until you started bashing people who enjoy different types of music than you do. Who are you to say what is good and what is crap?
Personally, my favorite types of music are jam band, 90s alternative and classic rock. I'm not a fan of KISS, but any band that has survived a few decades must have done something right.
I can't stand most country and most rap/r&b but I will never tell someone they have no taste for listening to it..
If you plan to leave the company to head to a direct competitor, do you expect a ticker tape parade? It's a conflict of interest if you stay around those 2 weeks to work.
Anyone trashing microsoft for doing this needs to get a grasp on reality. This type of action is also very common if you work for a Japanese company.
And for some anecdotal evidence. I been dating a girl for about a month now.. I went from playing WoW about 5 nights a week for 2-3 hours an evening to playing 1 or 2 nights a week. My brother actually plays my account more than I do now.
So as sexy time goes up, wow time goes down!.. but I will admit I've tried to get her to install the game and use a 10 day trial account;).
I have enjoyed a few Radiohead songs in the past but haven't downloaded this album. Is it good?
If I do download it, I will pay them $1 for every song I like (itunes going rate). But I am a typical/.er with a few bucks to spare and enough morality to reward those who provide good entertainment... can't say the rest of the e-world would do the same.. a shame really since it would directly benefit the artist. But the numbers in the article do suggest there is some hope for this business model.
I've never pre-ordered because the area I live in (sprawling suburbia) has plenty of retail stores per capita... but I can see why people living in a densely populated area would want to pre-order. If it isn't going to cost the consumer additional money, why not?
I don't get asked to pre-order at the gamestop in town anymore. In fact, I don't hear them ask other people who are in line. They do have signs up at the register though to ask about pre-ordering.
The Wal-mart in town doesn't accept pre-orders, but the Gamestop does. Of course the Gamestop will be sold out of the next "hot" game instantly because their entire allotment of games were pre-ordered by people who wanted the guarentee to get it on the 1st day. Sure Wal-mart may have a few copies on the shelf still because everyone who HAD to have the game right away paid $5 to reserve their copy elsewhere.
As for Wal-mart being cheaper... If Gamestop has the game for $39.99 then Wal-mart has it listed for $39.88. That $.11 isn't worth wading through the waves of scary people that shop at Wal-mart all the time.
A leader is only as good as the people they surround themselves with. Holds true in gaming and real life. Put the best leader in the world in WoW to lead a raid with a bunch of noobs, and they won't accomplish anything. Put an idiot in charge of the raid with a bunch of experience, well geared people and they will probably succeed despite the leader... making him look good.
I'm sure the logistics were a nightmare.. maybe they picked the 20 biggest parties and sent shirts to them.. There was around 12 people at the get-together I went to (even had a 3 digit UID in attendance) and not one word about shirts. And although it would have been a nice bonus.. I wasn't expecting to get a shirt anyway.
I blame Rob Malda for living in Michigan.. seriously.. how f'n dare he create a blog that deals with news that affects him... he's such an ignorant American.
Get over your superiority complex because you've travelled around the world. Guess what, I've been to S. American twice... you know what they talk about on the news... local items! The only time I saw anything about the US was when I was watching ESPN from the hotel. Who would've guessed the media in a certain country typically focuses on that country.
Most people on/. are smart enough to figure out the details for viewing this comment on their own. There's no reason the story needs to hold everyone's hand.
What would've been really cool is if the guy who found the code exclaimed "SOMEONE SET US UP THE LOGIC BOMB?!?!?"

Can't download updated rosters for sports games either.
Oh wow.. hey TommyD.. it's Shaft from HZ.. interesting running into you here :)
So for Horde fans in this thread, is getting modded Troll a complement?
bye bye karma!

Over 1 billion potential customers...

Stem cell research is a bad example since it's not illegal in the US.
