There's no spouting off here anywhere, and I'm talking about the word America(ns). Indians, whether specifically American or otherwise, do not enter the equation.
Notice, though, that this confusion has spread to other languages. In Swedish one can say "Amerika", which can theoretically mean either the country or the 3 continents. But these days it nearly always means the three continents of America, and the country is simply called "USA". However, a citizen of the USA is usually referred to as "Amerikan" (pronounced 'amerikhaaan'), and one talks about 'amerikanska produkter' ("American products") and similarly for other examples. This is normal usage, and does exclude other citizens of the American continents.
I seem to recall an experiment with young children, where girls were given boys' toys, and the boys were given obviously girly toys. Apparently they traded their toys with each other, even though they were too young to have ever been taught what 'girly' and 'boyish' is. Thus there might actually be 'girl' and 'boy' games. After all, men and women ARE different.
There's one more point. I don't play MMORPGs, and I'm not sure I ever will, though I have tried a few for sure: the word 'grind' sums it up. I'd rather 'play'.
The amount of lift is regulated in helicopters by the pilot ny angling the blade. As I understand it, this is further regulated with the angling changing depending on whether the blade is attacking or retreating, so as to give equal lift on both sides of the rotor. This automatic regulation just has to be tweaked, so that the retreating blade has a negative angle instead when moving at beyond mu-1.
Isn't this somewhat like the speed of light 'barrier'? Flying at mu-1 is a problem, but flying beyond mu-1 shouldn't be, right?
Why not just fly really high, then drop like a stone and slowly level out. Then reverse the angle of the retreating blade, instead of increasing the angle, and you'll start getting lift on both sides of the rotor. The faster you go, the more lift on the retreating blade, and the difference in lift can be compensated for just like now. The blades need only be comstructed symmetrically with both edges being leading edges.
I guess you can consider yourself a olde bearded type in waiting. The limits move upwards all the time, see. Actually, I wonder when users will start dropping off the low end of the list due to extreme old age or plain death? Will slashdot survive that long?
Young is perhaps id > 400K. 200K-500K is getting warm (ranges overlap somewhat), 100K-250K is medium rare, 50K-120K is experienced, 20K-50K is on the brink of ultimate geekhood, and < 20K is ye olde bearded type.
But hey, look on the bright side: you have some impressive hair cultivation to look forward to!
What the hell? I expect kids to learn how to present a subject with only a piece of paper as help, if even that. Powerpoint is the worst kind of presentational learning tool, and should be banned from schools if they really use it over there. Someone who knows how to use powerpoint well is obiously at an advantage tover someone who doesn't, but someone who can put a good and engaging presentation together with only an empty black-/whiteboard is the best presenter.
As you say, making a kid a techno-idiot is not good. One must start from the basics.
Noo, it's Cash On Delivery, at lest that's what it is now. I've never heard of ChequeOD. To explain: I've received maybe two checks in my life, both as gifts. This is only because it's less crude than giving cash outright. One of my friends says he has never seen a cheque in his life, and neither have I for the last 7 years now. I asked my dad what he knew about it, and he said some "common people" used cheques, but mostly top-class businessmen. They were still in use in the 70's, but then came the plastic cards, and cheques dissapeared instantly. No-one wanted to use such an insecure and problematic system anymore. Now it's only gifts or travellers' cheques.
I'm sure future ship-modders will be creating wild ships in ye olde style. As well as neon rims, water-cooled sail retractors, large led-fans with no effect, air tubes to guide the highly efficient space ether to cool the right spots, transparent hulls, chrome plated sails, and paint jobs that'll make the moon cry.
Hey, that's a great applet! I set the sail so I spiralled on a crash course towards the sun. I cam close, and then slipped right by and made a tight slingshot maneuver, careening straight out into deep space at 0,01c. Insane speeds! We gotta build these! If only we could make the sail disregard the intense heat, just like in the simulation run!
I'm amazed that this is such a problem. In Finland, when I buy something on an auction, online, or anywhere, I can just log in to my bank (with good security), and send the money to the other person's bank account. I send the exact sum of money required, to any bank in Finland, and that same amount arrives in the other person's bank about the next banking day, or immediately if it's the same bank. Transfer fees do not exist.
And there's some talk of sending checks around in the comments here. Are we talking about real, physical checks made of paper here? Is there anyone else here who realises how utterly oldsk00l this is?
What about COD? I can put stuff in a package, fill out a small form with my account number and a pickup charge amount, and give it to the post office. The other person receives it, pays the charge I wrote in any way he sees fit to the Post, and the Post deposits the same sum into my account. It's like magic!
No seriously, why are there such problems? Are there fees for transferring between states? Is paypal really the only alternative?
I also spotted a DOS manual, but I lost the positional information for that book temporarily.
'Tis t3h OK.

Never take analogies too literally.

Not necessarily from the first character, you can abbrev. from the middle too.

In normal Japanese usage, it's pronouced 'nai' when by itself.
Whoa! That is certainly more respectable than any old id!

-RMS by proxy.
(yes, of course I'm kidding)
What a great scientific debate!

I did find the movie a source of inconsistency at times...

Oh oh, I know! You could put a flashlight at the end of the handle, shining into the sail. Free energy!

So.. South Mexico is an american's idea of "remote"? :)

No, that's not smooth zoom. Smooth zoom is when it zooms at the same time as you drags. This works in Opera at least.

No need. Their crap already tastes like papier-mâché with flavour additives.
