Python provides no true concurrency due to global interpreter lock.
The interpreter you use has that flaw perhaps. Fortunately there are multiple interpreters, ask CCP games about that lock.
Java is not suitable for realtime due to unpredictable GC
Yet I work for a company and sit right next to the team that does real time Java without hitting the GC at all.
C/C++ is not suitable for anything which should never crash or return random results due to memory corruption
Yet it is what any industry uses that requires 100% reliability like aviation and medical use.
None of mainstream languages make automatic use of multiple cores and GPU - explicit provisions must be made by programmer to parallelize part of the program
This is just simply wrong for so many reasons. Most languages have helpers and utilities to explicitly thread but its really the runtime or compilers that you want changed to automatically do all the work for you. Which can be done and has been done in a various demonstrable examples. Turns out that a lot of times, its not good to implicitly do things, which you'd know if you understood the comment you made about Java not being real time, but I suspect you're just respewing things you've heard someone else say but you actually have zero understanding of.
You want a language that magically reads your mind and always does the right thing. The problem is, if you read your post, you'll see that YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO DO and thats actually the problem, not the languages or the computer.
Everything you've posted demonstrates a flaw in you and your understanding of the language or abilities. Not the tool. But hey, who am I to judge, you go right on ahead blaming the tool for your lack of ability, I'm sure you'll get promoted.
A real programmer does not care about languages. A real programmer does not attempt to write a kernel in perl. A real programmer does not attempt to write a glue script in C . A real programmer cares more about the optimum solution to the problem than which tools to use.
Your first sentence contradicts the rest of your statement where you very clearly show that a 'REAL' programmer most certainly does care about the language, which is why he isn't writing glue script in C or a kernel in Perl.
And 'REAL' programmers most certainly do avoid shitty languages, of which PHP is one as is Perl (sorry if you still think leaning toothpicks and a language where everyone writes the same one line operation in a different way is a good thing, but that just makes you stupid;)
So you go ahead and pretend to be all high and mighty and 'a real programmer'... and us old guys will laugh at you.
Right or wrong, noble or unpatriotic; these concepts are not relevant at all to the lawyers.
They are not relevant to ANY lawyer.
Part of being a lawyer is knowing going into it that you WILL have to essentially do something 'wrong' during your career. It is by design and part of the system on purpose, to protect the defendants and complainants. You can't abandon a case when you find out the defendant is guilty as sin because it makes it obvious that the defendant is guilty and taints their case either way. As a lawyer you must work to find the best outcome for your client regardless of your personal opinion because... you can't do anything to hurt them (unless you want your career to end and be disbarred for life) which abandoning them would taint the court/jury opinion and thats unfair because your opinion could in fact also be incorrect. Its a tricky mess from the start that requires our lawyers to be scumbags.
It is something lawyers MUST accept from the get-go.
This is also how you know every lawyer you meet is a scum bag who has no moral fortitude, it is required as a function of the job that they be willing to sell their souls.
Fortunately the kind of people who become lawyers really have no moral fortitude anyway and are in fact sell-outs to begin with... and unfortunately we have a lot of those kinds of people... who when then elect to run the government... which then make more laws to require more lawyers and... welcome to one of the reasons America is so fucked up and FISA not only was contemplated but actually exists...
Android is OSS under a fairly liberal license. You don't need to emulate it completely, you just need to emulate the relatively small number of syscalls/kernel interfaces so that the existing OSS code could run on a Windows kernel and get a graphics context to draw on... Pretty trivial with OpenGL or DirectX since Microsoft will try to shoe horn that in instead of using the more directly compatible OpenGL layer.
That's the first month. Now you spend a couple years integrating with your own services instead of the competition only to find out it's really hard to do anything useful after that awesome first month.
You are aware that people have been recruiting since before there was an Internet... Right?
You too are trapped in this retarded first world view of things and have absolutely no concept of how different their world is from yours. Most of their members have never seen the Internet, how the fuck are they going to be recruited by an entirely first world time sink they don't even know exists.
Just because you once heard a news story about a couple girls who did it via social media doesn't make it common, it just makes you look silly for believing that.
Yea, people who have time to dick around and read Twitter are not the kind of people who are willing to blow themselves up unless it's due to shear boredom.
You don't leave your comfy first world life, regardless of how bad you think it is to go join people that don't have electricity for hundreds of miles. No clean water, little food.... Oh and constant attacks from the most powerful militaries to have ever existed.
They probably have gotten a few from Twitter because you can literally sell anything to some moron on the internet... But all 8 of those people died from dysentery a week after they got there.
Suicide bombers blow themselves up because the alternative is better than living and they are angry. Death is an escape to people who have been indoctrinated on that level. They are not people who have the privilege of sitting on their fat asses reading pointless bullshit on Twitter. The people ISIS recruit would likely cut off appendages in trade for being so lucky as to be able to read Twitter rather than scrounge for food, water, and shelter.
Are you seriously so naive to think that they get a lot of recruits from twitter?
Sure they get some, but typically first world whiney brats on twitter aren't the type that can actually survive even being around where ISIS does actual recruiting.
When you make silly comments like this it shows that you really have no idea what motivates these people to be terrorists.
Silly first world issues don't have any effect on people living in places that would call Hell an improvement.
Just for reference, KMS is something you shouldn't mention and hope that people forget how ridiculously behind Linux is in this area compared to... Well everyone else that does anything other that 80x24 text.
... people who have adapted to looking at more than the trivial amount of text you seem to think is awesome?
How is this ignorant tripe modded +5? Just because you like pretending you're old school doesn't mean that either A) You are old school or B) Its actually better.
All it does show is that you want to pretend something that was out dated 20-25 years ago is awesome and better than all the shit that replaced it across... well everything.
Oh, btw, that console you're looking at... guess what its doing... ITS EMULATING ANOTHER CONSOLE PROTOCOL because NO app you have speaks directly to your console driver, but hey, you act all high and mighty.
You do realize you're applying a definition from the late 90s/early 2000's to a term used 20 years before that right?
Stop pretending you're old school, you don't even actually know what a terminal emulator is. You lost it the instant you thought it had anything at all to do with the network since terminal emulation actually happened before the Internet existed... on terminals which emulated other terminal types.
'Old school serial' is where it came from.
There is absolutely NOTHING in correct about the list they've provided, you just want to add a requirement for network support to it, and there is no such thing.
Seriously... the Amiga isn't even old school, what are you like 18 or something? Its cute that you don't understand why the serial console works with networked TTYs don't though... and yet you pretend to know more than the article.
... How does your VPN software work if it is required to use the Internet? VPN software requires a functioning network connection. Internet connections don't require functioning VPNs. Do you start your VPN so you can access the Internet so you can start your VPN?
When you delete an app all you delete is the app, on both OSX and iOS. What goes away with the app is the GUI to modify those settings, not the settings themselves.
Reinstall the app, your settings will be exactly like when you deleted it. There are exceptions to this rule but those exceptions aren't allowed for App Store apps, BY DESIGN. Apps CAN NOT by OS level permissions, modify their own install. If they did manage to do so, the app would not pass it's digital signature check the instant you modified the app by storing your settings there so it would never run again anyway.
This isn't Windows, it's multiuser UNIX. The behavior you're describing has never been acceptable.
I'm really blown away by your VPN comment. Are you sure slashdot is the right website for you cause you seem pretty non-technical to be commenting on a tech site about technical details. You certainly don't understand VPNs at all.
Had you simply right clicked on 1password and selected run from the context menu it would have started after warning you.
It didn't fail for a 'random' reason, it worked EXACTLY as intended and configured, someone just made a mistake.
You can simply turn off the various SECRUITY FEATURES that help protect you from various exploits if bothers you.
The really mind blowing part is that slashdot has degraded to the point that we get silly posts from someone like you demonstrating you aren't qualified to comment on a tech site.
Seriously, how could you not know that turning off signature checks using a single checkbox in system preferences would solve this problem if you've been using Macs for 30 years, takes exactly one Google search for the error message text to find hundreds of pages telling you how to work around it.
Do yourself a favor, don't bother with Linux, by the post you made here, I doubt you'll be able to figure out how to download it. Windows is probably still way over your head as well.
Let's start with user settings. User settings are neither stored with the app not digitally signed or encrypted. They are buried in a semi hidden folder that resides in the users home directory. Deleting an app doesn't delete your settings. It can't. Intentionally.
You can't really 'update' a cert once it's been used, so if something expired all apps with that cert in they're chain of trust would need to be resigned to validate them. There is no way to magically make apps signed with the old cert work with a new one. That would be a massive whole in the entire PKI process.
I'm not saying something didn't break, but the summary is 100% factually incorrect.
For what? More people like you to whine that someone else isn't taking care of them instead of doing it themselves? So that you can have some one come in and not improve your working conditions at all, basically tax you additionally on your working wage for no actual advantage, and then proceding to drive up costs while they fatten their own pockets at the expense of driving the business you work for out of business because of union issues such as ridiculous wages which are of course then immediately consumed in the form of union taxes... I'm sorry 'dues'.
You're an idiot to lazy to notice they you want to cut off your own nose to spite your face.
The solution for the 'doers' is to do something else. The solution for people like yourself is to... well, go back to the life style you would have had if you hadn't been lucky enough to get caught up in the IT bubble before it stabilized.
If you think a union will save you then you are either 3 years old or just flat out haven't paid attention to history... ever.
The only actual reason he didn't sign it is so he could pretend to give a shit in front of the trendy hipsters who still think he's not just another version of Bush.
Oil is used for a lot more than just making your car go forward and if every car and truck or whatever uses oil for fuel ceased to exist right this instant... we'd STILL need about 50% of existing demand just to continue the rest of our lives like we do now.
Again, this has nothing to do with whats good for the environment or people of the world, this has to do with how he looks in front of the ignorant hipsters who scream about how bad oil is without realizing they couldn't spend even a few seconds of life without it even if you ignored cars/trucks/fuel completely.
No modern electronics at all. No plastics. No fertilizers on a global scale. Far fewer pesticides, none that actually work. The medical industry too would cease to exist as we know it today. These are just some of the large obvious ones, oil is in EVERYTHING we do.
Thats right, without oil you wouldn't be able to eat, get medicine or talk on the phone. No Internet. Not even electricity... not because you need oil for electricity, but because every single process we use to turn alternate energy into electricity depends on oil products to make it happen (again, even excluding shipping fuels)
Cheap access to crude oil is A GREAT THING FOR THE WORLD!
Everyone driving their own cars around using fossil fuels because the president doesn't fucking care about the environment so he doesn't bother to make public transportation and better city planning a priority.... thats NOT GOOD FOR THE WORLD.
Yes, burning oil as fuel is bad for the environment on the scale we do it on. So lets stop doing that. But pretending oil is bad... that just makes you look like a fucking moron... oh, never mind, Obama has been doing that fine on his own.
Then why have several sprint tech support personal been 'aware' of the software that is installed?

Kind of like how your post is being used to push your own political agenda.
Ironic that you're trying to be all high and mighty about Fox's shitty practice while at the same time doing the exact thing you're whining about.
Next you demonstrate you clearly have no fucking clue how districting works and why its like it is.
You're totally right. Being on one of the most prominent news sites in the world is exactly like hiding it completely and not telling any one.

Turn in your geek card karmawhore.
I doubt you can show me a cable that I can't tell you just buy looking at it and feeling it, what the quality is.

Does it cost $0.99 and you're buying it in a gas station? Are you buying it from Amazon?
You can tell if you bother trying.
I bought a few packs of USB-C male and female connectors from China (to use for a non-USB application) and they were really junk.
NO WAY?!?!?!?! You bought cheap Chinese knockoffs and they were shit?!?!?! how can that be?! Thats never happened before ... EVER?!?!?!?!
Turn in your geek card and 4 digit UID Bill, you just lost your creds.
I didn't trust it anymore after that current overload so I junked it. So, yea. Not overblown. Actual problem.
You do realize that sentence completely contradicts itself right? Look, I'll make it even simpler for you:
I didn't trust it anymore after that current overload so I junked it.
Thats pretty much the definition of overblown
