Yeah, true - older machines wouldn't handle XP well, if at all. My point wasn't about hardware. It was about complaining that software doesn't work properly when, in fact, many of the problems have been fixed in later releases. This goes with any OS, not just MS Oses. How many times have we seen someone post "RedHat sucks!", and then in the next sentence they mention they're running RedHat 8?
I believe they already are! Remember the price hikes the RIAA wanted to impose? (I believe their goal was $2.99 per single (popular singles). If that's not 'embracing' the downloading channel, I don't know what is.
Some might say that this is their way of trying to kill this distribution channel.
Who says it has nothing to do with Java? It has an up-to-date pre-installed Java VM, Java tools for adding extensions to Star Office, it now includes Sun Studio for Java development. The JVM is linked with Mozilla, so user can run serious Applets (making Java Desktop ideal for corporate environments and intranets).
Uh... so does SUSE. Does that make it a "Java desktop" too? No, because they don't own the trademark, plain and simple.
In Italy the people's mentality is certainly relaxed as far as music goes. I just fired up Limewire and did a couple of searchs for Italian pop singers (L.Pausini and Nek). LOTS of music out there from italian machines (well, it looks that way when you traceroute the IP addresses).
Until people start getting arrested and fined/jailed, I don't think anything is going to change.
Commercial speech should absolutely be as protected as other speech.
When the first amendment was written, I really doubt that they had corporations in mind. The first amendment is all about INDIVIDUAL free speech.
I don t believe corporations have the right to say whatever they feel like saying. They are, after all, a group of people who may or may not be working together for a common cause (a day in any large corporation would reveal that the latter is probably more common).
You may not have the option depending on where you live, but, yeah, if you can't run any of the services that you want (without feeling guiltym anyway), maybe you should switch providers.
Cheapest isn't always the best option, especially if you run servers.
Yay! Notes 6.5.1 runs wonderfully. That's really the only "Windows" tie-in I have to worry about at work.
So with a 2.6.x kernel and CXOffice, I'm pretty much set for all I need to do.
I've been getting some form of "SEXUALLY-EXPLICIT" (hyphen, colon, space, etc.) for the last couple of weeks. But the ratio of clearly labeled porn and non clearly labeled is about 50/50 so I still have a lot that isn't automatically filtered.
Actually, all the apps I mentioned get you quite close to what you can do in Sonar or Cubase. They're just not unified, which is what I REALLY want - after all, both Sonar and Cubase do a terrific job at that.
It's pretty universal. Take a look at pretty much any other webmail account's usage policy. You don't use it, you lose it.
The case has a vent in it, so water definitely passed through it.

Windows 98 was never a stable system (unless the only thing you compare it to is Windows 95).
The guy should at least give XP a shot (hell, even 2000)... infinitely more stable than any of the Windows 9x series.
The fact that it currently only runs on one platform pretty much nullifies the statement.
But that's what the RIAA would hve you believe IS bootlegging - particularly the "trading".
Some might say that this is their way of trying to kill this distribution channel.
Actually, GIMP doesn't play well on XP with Avid DV Express (or maybe it's Avid that's the offender). The XML libraries conflict with each other.
It would seem to me that the awards go to people/teams that have created great Open Source software, not evangelists.
I could be wrong though.
Everything but Sun Studio is installed. And linked properly. It was in 9.0 and is also in 9.1 - both purchased versions.

Yes and yes.

Hint: SUSE

A PS2 version of "Ruthless People" could be kind of fun.
Don't forget Tia Carrera in the Daedalus Encounter. What was making her laugh through all her lines anyway?
OK, I don' t know that for a fact, but that' s my guess, going by what the season finale teasers are showing.
A PC destined to be on a network should not have to be unplugged from the network first in order successfully get on the network.
Is that really that hard to understand?
Try reading before posting.
Doesn't look like they have it for AMD64 either (well - not 2, they do have it for 1).
