I didn't think you could make something worse that was already two hopping kids with their clothes on backwards. These people could have made a game about ass cancer worse than the original.
Give me a break. I haven't found a faster place to download from than Microsoft. Period. I think they have the largest pipe to any random downloader there is.
Why is it so hard to understand that virus makers do not want to hose the OS? They want their virus package to mutiply to other computers, run spyware, steal data, phish out information, etc.
"Man, that virus didn't break my OS, so I am the roxor!!!" But it stole your identity, charged up your credit cards and ruined your credit rating, all in user space.
Wow, what a bunch of bullshit. You sir know jack about shit. Hate to break it to you, but the Space Shuttle is the heaviest lift launcher available today. Nothing today can lift as many tons at one time. All most all of the modules were designed and built with this fact in mind. That is the main reason only the Space Shuttle can finish construction. We don't have any other vehicles to put the modules up there. Period. And btw, Boeing built almost every module and truss in the good ol US of A. So fuck off with your condensending bullshit and get a life.
I would say no. Its like all those public service anouncements saying let the police finger print your children for "thier safety". You know, in case they ever go missing or something. You think they actually throw away those finger prints when they hit 18? I don't think so.
Since there are very few high end jobs, the competition is for the jobs. Its not about just getting into school, but getting into the best schools to get those few jobs.
There have been riots recently at Shenga University because the students there thought they would be getting degrees from the more prestigious Zhengzhou University. ( Quoted from the BBC article http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/5098204.st m/ )
Seriously. I work at Boeing and crunch numbers for a living on the shuttle program. We have many compiled Fortran codes for our 128 node linux cluster. I personaly have an HP c8000 workstation on my desktop. We also have a few IBM AIX machines at our disposal.
For quickly turning multi megabyte data sets A into multi megabyte data sets B, you just can't beat writing one script and running it on all the different architectures at my disposal with no compiling. Just run the damn script. I have libraries of various Perl modules for doing different things and I can run them from anywhere.
I know Perl isn't as fast as our compiled Fortran codes, but for the ease of use to do post processing, you just can't beat the flexiblity.
I first started to enjoy reading with the Lone Wolf series of books. After those, and a few other series i can't remember the names to i just started reading fantasy. Before you know it, I just wanted the thick books, the thin ones didn't last long enough.
I guess most people grew up on D&D, i grew up on Lone Wolf type books.
Nedit's ability to cut and paste blocks of text is the greatest feature ever. I can't live without it and haven't found any other editor that does it as nice.
That is what I don't get about all this place and its die hard support for the iPod. It doesn't support Ogg. It is perpetuating acceptance for DRM.
iRiver supports Ogg, they update their firmware alot because of user requests. They have even had a true hard disc video player for a long time. iRivers players look just like external drives and don't require propietary interfaces to get files off and on them.
I really can't wait till Apple does come out with the true video iPod. Everyone will be saying how innovative Apple is, and how no one designs like Apple, etc. It will have more DRM on playing video files.
Hell, I am supprised the current ipod photo plays non-drm'd video files at all.
We should all be out buying from companies like iRiver that support open codecs with no DRM and don't care whether they piss off the media companies.
Just because I put a lable on my product saying I am not responsible for damages caused by it, doesn't make it so. Its all up to the court system to see just how far EULAs can go.
For citizens oppressed countries, their ability to reach content not authorized
by their government is dramatically reduced. Think the Great Chinese Firewall,
but several layers deep.
Think about programs like Skype.
The US is getting close to making sure all
encrypted communication has back doors for the government. This rule only seems
enforceable on US based companies. Most of us probably didn't think too much about
that, since we could always just use Skype or some other foreign based VOIP.
Kiss that back up plan goodbye. Access to the executable gets diminished, as well
as communication with Skype's servers.
The Government can then start to come down on all questionable content, since all
hosting servers will on US soil.
I think internet fragmentation would be one the greatest disasters seen by the modern
world. Is that a little over the top? Maybe... But I definitely don't want
to see it happen.
This should be Apples moniker: "We charge you more for less!!!" My favorite example is the evolution of
the iPod.
Everytime they update the line, the price remains constant or goes up. And it comes with less and less. It only comes with headphones and a USB cable now. No AC adaptor. No firewire.
I don't know about you but I am updating my 30gigs of mp3s on my ipod everyday. Its the only way i can charge it, unless i shell out $30 for a USB to AC adaptor.
On the go playlists anyone? Oh, that's too complicated for the average user, so we won't have it.

Really? Last time I checked the USA had the most independent breweries of any country in the world. Probably combined.

You do realize the rocket engine they used previously was nothing more than a well fed tire fire, right?
Virgin Galactic's (Rutan's) method is not scalable to orbital velocities. It's not even new or unique.
We have been launching small rockets off airplanes for decades now.
There is no reason to take this step. It doesn't put them going towards orbit.
It is Rutan and Co.'s marketing department that has convinced people this is a necessary step to the commercialization of space.
All it is a scam to milk $250,000 people off those that can afford it and he used the X-prize as a form of advertising for it.
Maybe just put a big red button on your dash. If its the other guys fault, leave it so you have evidence that it was his or her fault.
If you did it, hit the button and light that puppy up. You have a constitutional right to not incriminating yourself.

Wow. I don't think I have ever seen an AskSlashdot question more completely and totally answered than your response. Bravo.

I just noticed its also filed under Linux. Nice, very nice.
Yeah, my submission was only the italizied part. That other garbage is just submission crapping.
So it doesn't really matter what Tivo does, until my cable company, or Scientific Atlanta / Cisco Systems, implements the same features.
Cable companies control the DVR space now. Tivo is just a nitch player that happened to have started it all.
Any how exactly are top secret, illegal activities supposed to be exposed? Whistle blowers are the only way.
that sounds pretty good. i might make it for dinner tomorrow.

Whether or not the disk is downgraded through the analogue hole is completely up to those making the master disks.
Any future disks could very well have that bit enabled, probably when they feel HDMI connections reach a certain penatration percentage in the market.

Its called Yahoo Go and its derived from Konfabulator. Doesn't Konfabulator pre-date Apple's implementation of their Dashboard?
