I'm not trying to defend the "cluttered" comment, but if you show the tray you can swipe to the right and you'll see another "trayful" of 4 more apps, swipe again and see another 4 apps, etc. I just checked mine and found 8 pages of tray icons (4 to a page).

So far I'm enjoying iOS4 but have a couple of games that no longer run and am having trouble playing some of my music videos, especially in shuffle mode. I currently have around 50 music videos, but if I attempt to play them on shuffle mode, it will only play 5-10 of them repeatedly. Manually selecting another video will often jump right into one of the same 5-10 that it was shuffling instead. Sometimes I can hit the back button and it will play the video I selected, but it's extremely annoying and I hope they fix it soon.

I used Palm and compatibles (Sony and Handspring) for years as well. A few years ago I was looking to replace my aging Palm and played around with a Windows Mobile phone that a coworker was selling. The hardware was nice, but the OS sucked major ass; I think it was Windows Mobile 2003. When Windows XP was at it's height, Windows Mobile 2003 was approximately at the level of Windows 3.1. The control panel was broken into 3 separate control panels for some unknown reason and you would have to search all 3 to find the settings you were looking for. If that weren't bad enough, some seemingly-related settings were split between 2 of the control panels. The experience left me with such a bad impression, I will never go back.

  20. Re:Look at the DroboPro on Best Solutions For Massive Home Hard Drive Storage? · · Score: 1

I own an original Drobo with Droboshare, and recently bought a Drobo 2nd generation to expand my capacity. I agree the performance is sub-par. I'm using it through the DroboShare, which is slower by far than the USB or Firewire connections. For my use (mostly DVD rips) it works fine although more speed would be welcome. I have had the first Drobo for more than 3 years and have not had any problems with it. Had I known about the DroboFS a month ago, I would have bought it instead of the Drobo 2nd generation I bought.

I use exclusively the Western Digital Green Power drives, so they run cool and quiet. I can't hear the pair of Drobos at all in my living room, where they sit below the media PC. Granted, the media PC, while relatively quiet, may be covering the sound of the Drobos, but I'm fine with that. The drives spin down when idle for too long, so accessing files after they have spun down can cause a delay of a 10-15 seconds, but that's probably not the Drobo's fault and saves power when it's not in active use.

Another thing Drobo has going for it is it's huge WAF. The design is very clean and the LEDs aren't overly glaring. It blends right in with my media center cabinet without making it look like a datacenter.

Since Adobe is playing the banner ad crap calling out Apple for their lack of support for Flash, maybe Apple can play the same game. Allow Flash content, but surround the Flash content with a "danger/caution" yellow and black striped border with a caption stating that that the enclosed content could be dangerous, malicious, destroy your battery life, cause dogs and cats to live together, etc. That way Apple covers their butt, Adobe gets to run Flash like the whiny babies that they are, and end-users will understand the danger.
