I don't think anyone has the rights to "666". =) Is this ok? You have a great service, but you have to understand that a lot of your business comes from people who use it purely for this purpose. And from what I understand, everytime you guys get asked about why you still allow it, you give no comment. I figured you guys didn't care. Your service is mentioned in many articles pertaining to caller-id spoofing. I had to know if it really worked, so I tried your service. I don't plan on using it to do anything fraudulent other than maybe a practical ( harmless ) joke on a friend. It's fun to call up your friends with "31337" or "666" for your caller-id. If this is unacceptable, please cancel my account. I'm sure you know who I am. I don't need a refund, the caller-id spoofing was worth losing $5 over. Thanks. ( draino@gmail.com ) just to make it easier on you.

No clue, sorry man. Digium ( I believe owned by Mark Spencer who started Asterisk ) would probably be able to tell you. You may have to buy something from them though to get support. iAXY's are only like $100.

If you want to do SIP/IAX you only need a network card, no fancy $500 T1 cards..You can purchase DID's ( Direct Inward Dial ) from NuFone.net or connect.voicepulse.com to work with Asterisk. They give you a "virtual number" from whatever state you want. You can have multiple calls on the single DID. Basicly you put a statement in your IAX configuration file to register with either of the services ( after signing up with them ) and when you register it tells them what IP address your Asterisk server is to route calls to. Your Asterisk box then routes calls accordingly. You can also pre-pay for outgoing PSTN calls through these services for very cheap. I currently have a DID through Voicepulse and do outgoing through NuFone.net.. works great.

I started doing this a week ago using Asterisk+NuFone.. hopefully NuFone doesn't have to change their rules any time soon. I thought about setting up a service, but was afraid of the legal consequences. Here's the easiest way to do this: Download and install this CD Xorcom Debian/Asterisk CD ( Linux+Asterisk Debian Distro ) Purchase a DID from Voicepulse Purchase $5.00 worth of minutes from NuFone.net Download the cidspoof.agi script Configure your extensions.conf in Asterisk.. fire it up, call the DID, enter the spoof number and outgoing.. voila. It will end up cost you like $15.00 for a month or 250 minutes worth of spoofing time. =)

  10. Myth's about WEP on 80% of WiFi Networks are still Insecure, Kismet Author Says · · Score: 5, Informative

Everyone still seems to think WEP is easy to crack. It's not. On AP's 2+ years old new features have been implemented to dramatically reduce the amount of weak IV's given out. For fun, I tested our network here at work, where we have over 300 employee's and multiple access points. And yes, there are plenty of people actually using the wireless network. In 3 days I was only able to pick up 75 weak IV's in Kismet. You usually need in the range of 10,000+ to make a decent attempt at cracking WEP with current tools. Now, if you have the know how to use tools like wepwedgie, or know how to do packet injection using multiple 802.11b cards/devices with HostAP then you may have better luck. But chances are that if someone knows how to use these tools and has the time to do this, they can probably break your network some other way.

  11. What not to email Tim Berners-Lee.. on That's Sir Tim to You · · Score: 4, Funny

I thought this was funny, slightly paranoid?

Email is safe unless it contains programs. (Data and documents are fine, programs are not). If you send me a program, I will not run it, as it could damage my system and could be a virus. Note: Documents for Microsoft word, Excel, and possibly other Office programs tend to execute programs (scripts) in what you would expect to be harmless documents. These can expose my machine to viruses, because these programs do not (it seems) prevent scripts from running within a document when it received by email. Please do not send me Microsoft Office documents. If you are sending text, please send it as plain text or HTML. If you use your favorite word process, slide tool, etc, and send it in that program's format, then you are forcing me install proprietary software on whatever machine I read them on. . If your email is sent from Microsoft Outlook, and contains an attachment, I will be more likely to discard it as I understand that a famous series of viruses in 2001 resulted from Outlook's tendency to execute scripts in email, and used up a huge amount of my and my colleague's time.

I think it should just say if you've been recently exposed to any Microsoft product, do not email me.

But my point is that your average joe without an ipod who wants to listen to music on his computer does not have the skills to dig through directories, find the songs and back them up.
