The reason we (the Television and Film people) use CGI for Computer Generated Imagery instead of CG is because in Broadcast "CG" is generally associated with Character Generator.
Apparently "I disagree with you" can now be represented by a Troll mod. Thanks.
It has been this way on Slashdot for a while now. Unless you are talking about: Apple in a positive light, how great Linux is, or the porn industry's role in deciding the next gen. media format (Blu-ray or HD-DVD) you will be modded Flamebait, Troll, or Redundant.
Didn't we have these same articles yesterday? (-1, Redundant -1, Redundant -1, Redundant)
Safari is still in beta (-1 Redundant)
The window can only be resized from one corner (-1 Redundant)
Cocoa toolkit blah blah, probably as terrible as QuickTime Player, paging like crazy in RAM (-1 Redundant)
I read the Ars review and found it unusally poor, mostly subjective, and full of hyperbole. My response.
I've loaded the Safari 3 Beta on 3 different XP boxes and it did not, crash or refuse to install on any of them. That's right they all worked fine. Although Firefox did crash while I was downloading it
(with only Slashdot open in tabs). I don't know about the ClearType issue, but I have 20/20 vision and the text and menus in Safari look fine to me. As for the Status Bar not being visible, I don't know what's wrong with your monitor, but it looks plenty fine to me.
How to start the name of every single piece of your software with a capital G or capital K.
How to have all the various distributions of you Operating System inconsistent.
How to label anyone who disagrees with your point of view of as a troll and/or glib.
How to not dominate the desktop market.
How to work for free.
How to not make a profit.
Before anyone points out the profitability of Red Hat let me ask first where I may freely download Red Hat Enterpirse Linux, not Fedora Core, RHEL. This for me kind of contradicts the "free" aspect of Linux.
bugs in the Windows version of Safari mere hours after it was released. 4 DoS bugs and 2 remote execution vulnerabilities, a URL protocol handler command injection vulnerability that allows remote command execution.
This is what Bill Gates has been trying to do for the past 20 years, and Apple has done it in just about 5. It's an incredibly smart move on Apple's part, and a major blow to Microsoft's hegemonic ambitions.
Apple hasn't done anything yet. And so far I haven't seen Microsoft on their knees crying and begging for mercy.
The space elevator can go to Hell. I remember reading about it 10 years ago in Popular Science. How it was going to "change everything" and people would drive their flying cars to the space elevator (get out) and then travel to a space station or the Moon. The future is coming blah blah blah. Yeah whatever! Wake me up when the NASA bureaucracy gets off its lazy ass, and the wack VC's with stupid schemes move out of the picture.
"the biggest problem with OO.o is" it's slow.
Sun may be taking this chance to drop out of the server market
Whaaaaaaat?
If I don't credit them will I be prosecuted?
LinUKs
And still have better clutches than Ferraris.
Shouldn't it be BSD/Mach (like GNU/Linux) as opposed to Mach/BSD?
Here is an old old SGI promotional video featuring the IRIS Indigo workstation (used for the CGI in T2) along with T2 footage.

If you had said "I disagree with him", I doubt you'd have been modded as a troll.
And that's why you're posting as Anonymous Coward?

"That's it man, game over man, game over! What the fuck are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?"
Is the CD Becoming Obsolete?
No, I think the guys at Audioholics are just bored today, or they need some advertising hits on their page.
Now they really can be Nazis.
Will You Change Your Web Site For the iPhone?
When Apple cuts me a check I'll be happy to change my website for the iPhone.
768k is underspeed for some purposes, but that's plenty fast for most people's day to day usage
No it's not, I wipe my ass with 768k.
What a shitty, ad-ridden article.

OMG MS copies Apple again
IE was a fast, light, agile browser with many more features and provided a much better experience.
Let's not get too crazy there. IE 5 was okay, but it wasn't that good.
