It isn't a resource that is depleted after I use it. It's a service. You can't "consume" an e-mail hosting service any more than you can "consume" a movie. You can consume a bagel, a glass of juice, or a hamburger. Fire can consume a building. But there is nothing consumable about using an e-mail service. Stop redefining words for marketing purposes.
Your consuming bandwidth and drive space on the server. Both are resources that are not infinite.
Not just that. People realize that so-called 'social media' is anything but, when it comes right down to it. Also, it's trendy as hell. Once it was AOL. Then it was Livejournal and Myspace. Right now it's Facebook. What we're seeing, however, is the Beginning of the End for Facebook (or at least I hope it is). A year from now, the next trendy 'social media' thing will emerge, and all the social-media sheep and attention whores will start migrating towards that, dragging their 'friends' (with a small 'f') with them. Hope for Zuckerbergs' sake he's invested all his millions into something conservative and sound, he's going to need that to live on when Facebook really does become Failbook and is worth nothing, gets sold off to some eastern europeans for a song.
I wonder about that all the time when it comes to superheroes. Superman may harness the power of the sun, but his exposed skin doesn't collect enough to lift up a truck or stop a speeding train. How many calories does that take? And the Flash... could run 2 seconds at top speed before exhausting all the calories he could consume in a month.
To be fair they do show the Flash constantly eating.
Remember you're dealing with a group of people (US leadership and US political candidates) who believe that there is a big ON/OFF switch for the Internet located in Bill Gates' basement.
No it's in Al Gore's basement.....he invented it after all.
Ahh so we should live with this blight on computing forever because it was successful in a time where there weren't any alternatives for doing what it does?
There are alternatives now. Much better, much more efficient, standardized alternatives that aren't owned by a single [abusive] company. The time of Flash is over - adapt or die.
Get rid of the point system. Have them keep going till someone gives up or gets KO'd. This simultaneously makes the sport more interesting and will cut back on the corruption.
Ask any police officer or health care provider how people act during the full moon. They will almost always tell you that they are busier and people are crazier around that time of the month - consistently - although they can't quite explain why.
There have been studies showing it messes with a good nights sleep. Your own link even admits that, Lack of sleep does tend to make people a little crazier.
What makes you think openbsd hasn't been corrupted by some third party? Just because of the size of the target? Even squirrels get shot for food, and that's a small target. You are betting on security thru obscurity, not a safe bet.
Silly goose - haven't you heard? FreeBSD is the cure to all problems. To the point where you can say you have a bunion on your foot, yup, FreeBSD will fix that for ya. It's like a modern washday miracle!
Well you see FreeBSD does everything you need, so there's no need to stand up ever again. So the bunion on your foot won't matter.
Until I read this I didn't know SolarMovie was a thing. Good job Australia.
When it crashes and keeps you off the internet you're perfectly safe,
Have we all forgotten the true spirit of Singles Day?
So, you're God every time you run a simulation?
Yes. To the entities inside the simulation you are, to all intents and purposes, their God.
That pretty much fits the job title of "Omnipotent entity that caused and controls everything", aka God.
Omnipotent except for the bugs.
If VR takes off. A 4k console would like the PS/2 and the PS/3 probably offer a player for 4k video aka 4k Bluray
4k is still the magic number needed for VR to have decent resolution since you always have to divide that number in half to get the 3d.
How do I "consume" e-mail hosting?

Google+ is the future.......maybe not.
Imagine if you called Marcus ... and got Mercus instead.
I'm sorry you've got the wrong number, this is 912.

...after all, programming humans via socializing is way more fun than programming computers.
Nah....too many bugs and no one to report them to,
Is it or isn't it? I don't want to choose just tell me what to believe!
If you don't believe civilians should be able to own any weapon our military is allowed to use, your out.
If you don't know the difference between "your" and "you're" - you're out.
Such thing haven't really mattered since the days of yore.
It's almost like publishers are artificially keeping ebook prices high enough so that real books can compete.
bye.
No Mr President you're the one running away from the consequences of his actions.
Is Professor Zoom the Facebook CSO now? I can't keep up with all the retcons.
It was MEEEEEE, Barry! It was me all along!

Alternatives such as?
I guess the "terrorists attacks" phase is over. Let's start the "aliens attacks" phase.
Signed, The Illuminati.
No no you got it wrong. You see the aliens took our jobs. They don't have to attack us.
....wait what's a Gigaom anyway?
Get rid of the point system. Have them keep going till someone gives up or gets KO'd. This simultaneously makes the sport more interesting and will cut back on the corruption.
........cause there's a difference.

Confirmation bias. I've heard the same thing from nurses, but the fact is, no correlation has been found.

Is that lipstick makes a woman look hot, but it's kind of gross when you actually kiss them.
Obligatory
A problem most of us here will never know.
