Sorry about that. I didn't know it was affecting you and everyone else going to our University. Its not technically a DOS attack... I was trying to bring my share ration up on BitTorrent so I set the upload rate to 45MB/s... and well, hehe... the stupid Techies didn't bother putting any kind of bandwidth limitations on the network allowing 1 guy to use ALL of the bandwidth.
Hasn't anyone told you? Brits are just American's with funny accents. Anyway, ALL of their Albums were released while they were living in the US and under a US record agency. They only returned to the UK for concert tours. Freddie even died in the US.
They recently released a Queen's Greatest Hits album in Iran. Its one of the few American albums allowed to be released in Iran by Iran's fundamentalist government. LEGAL copies are being sold for $1. Why are we here in America and Russia getting stuck with $15 when Iran only has to pay $1?
Brian Flemming used to have one of the better political weblogs but since he's started working on a movie the blog has been total crap for crap.

If we replaced "Altnet" with "Microsoft" or another/. target
If Microsoft or even SCO were to sue the RIAA... and I would support either of them against the RIAA. I would be all for that. This may not be an "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of deal but it could be a "let our enemies destroy each other" deal.
Forget the Laptop, build a Desktop with the solid steel Antec Performance Plus case and fill it with lead weights at the bottom and keep both the drive-bay lock and the side panel lock locked at all times!

Pretty much any ruby you buy now will be synthetic. The world's supply of natural rubies are virtually exhausted with all the remaining natural rubies being produced only being a light pink colored instead of the traditional deep red.

As much as the RIAA poses as a "Government Agency" they are not one. The RIAA is a private organization who represents 4 major record labels (formerly the Big 5) who use the RIAA to exert their will on hundreds of smaller record labels. The RIAA is not the "law".
Saying all that, sure they could be right about the people they are suing. However nearly all of the RIAA's victims are Blue Collar workers, Single Mom's, and some even live in public housing; These "Defendants" with income well below the poverty line have no hope of being able to afford a Lawyer, even if they saved every single red cent for the rest of their lives.
With no Lawyer, they cannot mount any kind of "defense" which leaves them no choice but to accept any of the RIAA's demands. This basically amounts to extortion. Worse yet, many of the "defendants" are forced to pay outrageous amounts, considering their financial situation. These people are not given any mercy, instead their wages are garnished essentially turning them into money producing slave labor for the RIAA.
Here we see the RIAA's true plan. Because nobody can defend themselves in court means that the RIAA does not have to provide any proof, or evidence of any kind of the "defendants" guilt. This in turn results in the fact that this allows the RIAA to sue anyone they want to whether they are really sharing songs or not. Perhaps they plan to sue every poor person in the entire country... or perhaps the RIAA just plans on turning enough of the country into their own personal slaves to support the lavish life style of top level executives at the major 4 record labels. The RIAA does seem to have taken a liking to slaves who make money for them (see: musicians).
I was sleeving the power cables and accidentally swapped the 5 volt cable with the 12 volt cable. When I powered on the computer I immedediately began to smoke so I switched it off. The entire circuit board for my hard-drive, which had been daisy chained to the floppy connector, was blackened. After correcting the wires, I was too scarred to plug back in the hard-drive, thinking that a damaged hard-drive could potentially cause other devices to burn out so I plugged it into an external USB enclosure and behold! The hard-drive still worked!
The reason why this is a story is that the RIAA and the MPAA were trying to push it through without it even being debated. The PIRATE act (tranfers billions of FBI dollars from anti-terrorism to anti-file sharing) passed without even 10 seconds worth of discussion. They were trying to do the same thing with the INDUCE act but great groups like Click the Vote and public out-cry along with companies like Intel managed to persuade Congress to actually hold some sort of debate. Such a horrid act is much less likely to pass if there's at least 1 second worth of debate.
The article says that the RFID tags are to be placed on the kids clothing, name-tags, and bookbags. However, aren't those the first things a Pedophile is going to remove from a school kid before taking the kid to their "secret lair"?
Becuase of the actions of the RIAA, a sort of "Downloaders Creedo" has been developed. Since the actions by the MPAA are slightly less offensive, they will prosper under the Downloaders Creedo.
Music: 1. Don't buy ANY RIAA music, EVER! (riaaradar.com) 2. Download all RIAA Music for FREEEEEEEEE!
3. Pay for any non-RIAA music
Movies: 1. Download all movies for FREEEEEEE!
2. If you like the download, buy the movie. (You'll find yourself buying even more movies than you would had downloading never been invented).
The parent thread was trying to explain why the MPAA isn't making as much money as they expected to, he's not trying to justify piracy...

Are we sure the valley's weren't carved out by giant faces flowing accross the surface of mars over the millenia?
