I do not completelly agree with that. My country (Brazil) started January 1st do to that in our airports to, with a bit difference: it is required fingerprints and photographs only for north americans.

This law is based on the international reciprocity principle. Here it is used just as 'reveange' against the americans who were kind of humiliating the brazilian people on their airports.

I belive that when used for REAL security this is important, but just as a power and control game as it is being used will not solve anything.

It is nice to see those pictures for another reason too, which is that give us a shot of what developing countries really are. Iraqi isn't all about caves and deserts, no country is. Of course there are several problems and poors, but people are usually happy [self experience].

What the FSF proposes isn't to give away your software for free. You can charge for your work and you are encouraged to do this. But once you've sold your software to another you, you may let he/she to redistribute it for free or sell it under the same terms you used. You people who use the software are not ruled by the software or by the company.

Stallman doesn't encourage comunism or non-profit activies. He encourage the free software for the freedom of the users.

I could explain a lot of things here, but I would say exactly what have already been said at the GNU site. Maybe you should read it really careful before saying thinks like 'turn away from capitalism'.

First of all, Open Source is a movement and Free Software is another. They have completly differents phylosophies and objectives as well.

The main concept of this kind of freedom is to give users the power to copy, modify and redistribute a software or a manual. This improves life quality and the karma (not the /. one) of the human beans. This is all the GNU Project is about: try to improve socially the humans.

If you have a free software but it isn't working well and doesn't do what you exactly need, no matter: you can just fix it because you have the source code. But if you don't know how to program, you can ask some friend of your to do it. If you don't have a programmer friend, you can hire someone to do it. That's all the beauty.

People need to see free software as a social movement. It gives you a chance to be a better human being by sharing your knowledge with your neighboor.

Unfortunatelly I have heard about an OS called Linux. And not just me, several free software and GNU enthusiasts have also heard about "Linux", but not about GNU SLASH LINUX, which is the real OS name. Linus have already been a bit egocentric calling his kernel after his name, so let's keep and use the right name.

Please call the OS that way and say to other people (as I am doing now) do it also. You will be helping the GNU Project as well the FSF giving them the credit they deserve. With Linux only, the final users wouldn't get anywhere since they wouldn't know what to do with that .tar.gz source file they got at kernel.org

For a movie with this size and for that much of money involved on its production, profit is all that matters. A movie with less fx's would have a better content and a better development, but I belive less people would watch it or by products based on it.
