    Actualy most programs work on larger screens just fine including PocketIE, PocketWord, PocketExcel, I know this becuase www.jimmysoftware.com has put out drivers that create a large screen in software and shrink it before actually drawing it to the screen... It slows things down a little but increases the usability of PocketIE a lot, and gives everything a nice antialiased look.

    It sounds like you were looking for a job in the middle of the internet/dot-com boom back when mosaic or netscape where king. Things have gotten a little more difficult for new graduates of late. So I don't know why the fact that you got a good job out of college 3 or 4 years ago has anything to do with the current situation...

    You made a really strong point there but I would say that mozilla is actualy "best" then netscape 6... hmm...
    a. There is never any tag along software that I didn't want. It has nearly all the same features (and will have a spell checker soon), has been consitently more stable, and bugs are fixed and new versions released nightly... I don't know why we would complain.

    I just pushed control-N in IE 6 and mozilla .9.8 about 10 times for each, they both take about 3.5 seconds to open the window, load slashdot, and get rid or the hourglass cursor. Mozilla really is just as good, at least in Windows.

    suposedly the licencing fee for CE is around 10$ so I doubt that it makes that big of a difference.

    sun cant do what ever they want to java... that is a compleat crock. they have a board with IBM and other big players that have to vote and pass extentions to the language.... no one would use java if sun could change it at a moments notice...

    wait till the movie industry figures out what this will be used for in the real world... Namely to butn pirated movies from various file sharing methods to cd that can be watched on ones dvd player and have it look almost as good... I think some one is going to get in trouble over this... too bad it prolly wont be microsoft.

    PowerJ from sybase is the absolute worst IDE for java. All I can say if that nothing works the way it should and it has an amazing ability to just erase the last method you wrote for no apperent or avoidable reason, with no way to get it back. Plus it's integration with easerver (sybases's ejb server) does not work... at least not as well as they advertise. It is also slow and uses propriatary file formats so that all your java code is hidden in non *.java files that cant be grep'd or javac'd or diff'd. Man I hate this program! Notepad and the jdk for windows is far superior.

    I got in contact with my states attourny general, who apperently got incontact with the sellers state, and prosicuted the guy. It took two and a half years but I eventualy got the 800$ I had spent on a computer... and ended up with something much better! So I guess it worked out, I don't really like ebay anymore although I guess things are better with pay-pal then with the cashiers check I sent this guy!

    Doesn't this make it sound like light is actualy burning the wafer? That is just plain wrong, light changes the chemical make up of phontoresist-- so it can be chemically removed... Duh...

    This just lends more credibility to the theory that if you know something about a topic you will see that the media has no clue about that topic...

    What about using .cab files for signed applets... well I guess it isn't as bad as netscape's security library... but still. Browsers need to support an open implementation of java! Thats why mozilla is so cool... if only they could figure out there live connect problems....

    The new casio pocketpc (not out yet) doesn't come with any MS software except the OS (no Pocket IE or Word or Excel) at least the MS tax is much smaller...

    Way to watch the trends... 8 hours is about twice what the last generation of pocketpcs got out of there batterys... so... The batterys are lasting longer now... (this isn't a palm and therefore the battery life isn't rated in how many days you can use it for with out replacing the batterys as long as you use it for 20min a day and no more) pocketpc batterys are getting better not worse, and I would argure that laptops are too... So the question is what are you trying to say...

    There is no way in hell this isn't backlit... All the other pocketpcs are... And if they are charging almost the same amount for almost the same thing I'm sure they included backlighting...

    Ugh... A. Windows Media player for pocket pc plays-- ISO MPEG4, Windows Media 7 and windows media 8 B. With an ethernet card you can stream movies from the free (Microsoft made) windows media encoder C. With 206 strongarm processor you can watch full screen movies at 15+ fps (at least with an ipaq) it works very well D. There is a divx player but Im not sure how good it is... and why not use wm instead it is higher quality for smaller size E. becuase the screen is so small there is no reason to encode a 400MB-800MB file... you would be wasting space... and slowing the movie frame rate tremedously... Thats all for now...

    But at the same time at 100 (only 50 for the casio e-500 which is small and comes in colors) dollors more it just doesn't make sence to not buy it. Don't tell me you couldn't ever come up with a use for a full scale web browser in your pda... Even if you don't use the feature very much it's still just the price of a few apps for palm os. What I am saying is even if you think you have no use for extra features you probably could use them and the price difference is nothing. Why not support a supirior product. Maybe then palm would have some presure to get their act together.

    Also quake is cool but I perfer having an nes snes mame and game boy emulator on mine the games have a small foot print and most are very playable (not MAME games : ()

    If we have quantom computers what would keep us from using quantom enctyption... We are only f*ucked only if the party that makes these computers is not willing to sell them, and I have faith that making money is the reason research money is put into expencive research like quantom computing in the first place.

    angband, moria, nethack... the *NIX version exisits and depending on how much you like to look at pictures it could be argued that they are superior... (personaly I like pictures)
