There'll be a reckoning for you when this is over, Darl. Really? When? How? And by whom? He's currently stuffing his pockets full of gold, the company will be held responsible but not him, he has probably already sold off a bunch of stock during high tide and made a bundle. How can justice possibly get done ?

Fedora Core 2 or Mandrake 10 ? Well, I cannot really comment on those two, however I have been using gentoo and debian for quite some time (deb on a 200 mhz pentium machine and gentoo on a 1.4 ghz tbird) and those two don't seem to be slow at all. It might perhaps have something to do with the fact that I use xfce4 on the big on and fluxbox on the pentium (200). Also I use abiword which I think is a splendid word processor which is both fast AND feature rich (gee, and here I felt you were implying that those two were mutually exclusive ! ).
The whole point is, you don't have to install programs which are eigher slow or badly written no more that you want when using linux or *bsd, but when you use windows (or any other propriatery system for that matter) you are somewhat forced to use at least some of the componenents which make up the proprietary enviroment.

photoshop is fine and well, but the real hope should be for open software to become equal to or better than their closed relatives such as photoshop vs. gimp, 3d st. max/maya vs blender etc. They may be far behind those today ... but tomorrow is another day. hope springs eternal my friends.

A small warning though. The SCO employees have obviously been taught how to combat protests. There was an article about another group who was there protesting.. unfortunatly I can't find the link :( Just make sure NOT to allow them to be all chummy with you like happened last time. They also mixed some rather "not nice" and "incorrect" signs in with the signs that the protesters where using. Some of those where comparing using gnu/linux with downloading music off the net etc. They will also try to bribe you with cold drinks and offer to pose in pictures with use (grinning from ear to ear like the demons they are) ... but don't fall for it ! May whatever deity you worship (or luck if you are an non-believer (eithist, can't remember how to spell the damn thing)); Good luck :)
