Well, perhaps there are by you. I know for certain there are not by me. Even the basic ones sold by the supermarkets here (Tesco for example) are WAP, polyphonic, MP3 and so on.
The market hasn't provided for me just wanting a basic phone. The market isn't a magical entity that provides for all so it's worth me stating my case; I'd like an uncluttered, cheap, and reliable phone please. Stop with the pointless addons.
But then looking at your sig I shouldn't be replying to you at all.
I don't think this should be modded funny, aim for a +5 Insightful. I want my mobile phone to be a phone. Nothing more.
I want it to make phone calls in a cheap and reliable way, and have some seriously long battery life.
Is it me or are these phone add-ons just useless tat? The pointless technology you stick in these things the more that can go wrong and the more you can charge the herd that buys them.
"they are gambling with the chance of survival for the entire human race. This should be considered a crime and prosecuted accordingly"
This is a part of what politicians do, and yes it is wrong as they are not accountable; due to there actions not having an immediate consequence. Look at the Kyoto treaty for example, Polls in America showed support for it http://www.oneworld.org/ips2/nov98/04.32_008.html and Bush still refused to sign up.
The reason? Dollars of course. Money is more important than human survival isn't it? No? Ah.

Exactly, as any parent here knows. Best thing you can do is just pull the attention away from the cause of the trauma or pain. With a young child this is pretty easy, just jangle a bunch of keys if you've nothing else to hand, the reflected light and noise distracts pretty well.
It strikes me though that is pretty bad that VR is used instead of reality. How about having enough staff around and use people to talk/distract patients? Damn my luddite ways.
"Anyone care to draft up a legal go to hell for the overseers, I'll glady append the signature to it."
There is enough information on here to do a decent letter, just add in the politness that is required when dealing with MEP's.
If you think IP is a bad idea DO something about it. Don't wait until someone writes a letter that you can just copy and paste. Send a letter, an email if a letter is too much hassle. But do something.
I've just written to my MEP Arlene McCarthy, arlene.mccarthy@easynet.co.uk, she's one of the MEP's for the North West; if your in Cheshire/Lancs/Cumbria/Merseyside write to her.
Like the earth isn't screwed up enough with the volume of munitions down here, now we're going to stick a load up there too?

What? How's this modded as funny?! 'In Russia... ' jokes died ages ago and are only funny in a parody of themselves now.
This one is dire. Oh man, anything can get modded as funny if this can./me dances like a monkey on crack and prods the quotation engine with the finglonger;
Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation -- Oscar Wilde
The surest way to make a monkey of a man is to quote him. -- Robert Benchley
It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations. -- Sir Winston Churchill
A fine quotation is a diamond on the finger of a witty person, but a pebble in the hands of a fool. -- Colette
You need a Soviet mouse then. Designed and built in three minutes from steel and random tubing, to help move it across the desk it comes with 24 mini jets clustered around it.
It will last longer than cockroaches and be derided by everyone working on more complex and expensive solutions; but it will just go on working for decades to come.
"5) Apple has really top-notch driver integration... Everything else was perfect plug and play. It just doesn't happen with Windows. REALLY doesn't happen on Linux."
I'm a flag waving Mac fan, that said I use XP Pro also, in both home and work life. XP has been just as good as any Mac I've used for Plug and Play. (Ignore the other XP flaws, hard I know, but this is about PnP)
An example is the new external DVD-R+- I just bought, plugged it into both no problems, no drivers.
Linux is improving but, as so often is the case, it's not quite there yet.
'I am very happy that the US didn't extend into Syria and Iran as Rumsfeld threatened'
Agreed.
'but a sudden withdrawal from Iraq without improving things would result in something that would make Saddam look like a puppy'
Like it's really improved there right now. I know what you're saying, if the US/UK/'Hamsters sent from a couple of other countries' all pull out it's likely that Iraq would be in an even worse situation; it's a divided secular nation.
Best way out? Hand the whole thing back to the Iraqi's with a government framework in place, and do it FAST. Give clear time scales and milestones, define exactly when and how you're going to pull out. For example; 'We'll announce an Iraq election in October, start the troop withdrawal in December and have no Military presence by March.'
And keep to the milestones. That way US/UK/Hamsters are keeping to there defined goals which gives us Iraqi and International/UN kudos, the US stops bleeding billions of dollars on Iraq which allows for the reduction in the Military budget and funds Bush's slight of hand. All overly simplistic I know but hey, KISS.
Why not just cut military expenditure and fund the whole Bush 'Here, look at the left hand, ignore the right hand, yes, just the left hand.'?
Seriously, US military expenditure could be cut massively and while I don't agree with why Bush is doing the Mars program I do agree it should go ahead.
No clue why I had to Thndercat up the title, go figure.

This is what I sent them: This article is factually incorrect and misleading. It points out that in no uncertain terms that 'Linux zealots' have attacked the SCO website only to later say 'there's no proof, of course', but only after the author has already painted a clear picture.
While that clause makes the article legally clear it does nothing to repair the bruised reputation of BBC journalism. Perhaps IBM should be approached for there viewpoint on the matter? Or the original creator of the Linux Operating System, who always provides good copy, Linus Torvalds.
In fact the only group that stands to lose out from this attack is the Linux Community as a whole. Security analysts have come to the conclusion that mydoom has been written by SPAM distributors, the SCO attack is a diversion and a way to place blame on the Open Source Community, as they make the most effective anti-SPAM programs.
As for the attack itself, it used HTTP GET requests, not an email attack like the article states.
Please review this article as soon as possible and withdraw, correct or apologize as appropriate. It really isn't up to normal BBC standards.

Aren't there rules on how the FBI can act in these situations?
I thought there actions could not significantly damage a company's business if that company wasn't the one under the kosh.
It's not the ISP's fault in this case and they are the ones getting screwed.

Yep, that was my thinking too. Does it matter if it's pretty standard java stuff?
It's not like this will stop anyone anyway, it would make the reverse engineering process longer that's all.
Just keep your uber secret java code server side, use your tools well.
No but it might make them dead.

I like perl, it offers a flexability that other languages don't seem to have imo and it hasn't killed the cpu *that* badly.

Some of us also think that settling things in an amicable way outsdie of the court system can be a good thing.
If you had bothered to read the article you'd also have noticed the following;
"As part of the aggreement, Allnet will make a significant donation to two tax-exempt non-for-profit organizations established under german law"
A good thing. You see now?
Replying to my own post, how tragic, apologies.
Anyway I know this all depends on whether the particular mod laughed or not but this was an attempted funny, -1 Attempted Funny?
I knew I should have rolled out an In Russia or Beowulf gag. As I read in someone's sig 'Slashdot, News for Herds. Stuff that splatters.'
