Gave my replacment a incomplete manual with missing substantial parts and told him to RTFM.

I knew already I had lost my job.

The funniest part of it: The things they missed, they would never ever know about them.

Oh ... and my reference list with most used parts he copied from me, did contain some strange serious errors.

What do you expect? I'm no Saint.

It did work. 3 months later they contacted me to take op my old job. I just showed them my midlefinger.

Depending of the algorithm in use you will have a slow or fast VPN in use.

    - you could have 512 keys (breakable with a lot of effort) or 2048 key pair encryption.
Defenitly if the 512 key pair is in use it will be faster.

I make a balance between speed and the weight of data you need to protect.

To protect my financial data, I would use a good tight VPN.

For instance @ home, I use CIPE for wireless VPN into my server. Reliable and speed are the keywords. I don't care, I someone is capable to decrypt my most favorite websites etc...(after a few weeks). I don't share confidential info on it.
Just need to protect my wireless network from script kiddies using tools for cracking WEP.

Depending on the use, you should use a type of VPN. Just like you made the difference between a truck and a car.

    http://www.verite.com/htmlsite/etools/t2vrsfa q.htm l

Can I run VRS on my own web server?
Yes, but we don't recommend it. VRS, as it stands now, is programmed in Cold Fusion and utilizes MySQL database software. To install VRS on your web server, Verite would either need to reprogram the system in a language that you support (very costly) or you would need to purchase a Cold Fusion Server and pay consulting fees for Verite to install and set it up. (VRS supports any ODBC compatible database-like Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL server, Oracle, etc.-but we prefer MySQL because of high reliability and the fact that it is open source).

So probably (not for sure) they rely on mysql as database.
