Actually I can't imagine myself brainlessly gazing at an attractive lady over the fence rudely because she was wearing a thong bikini while mowing the lawn. Where I live, immature nitwits make fun of men wearing speedos for any reason and the only time the girls don't find it disturbing is if the guy is attractive (sounds a lot like most male responses to women in skimp-wear).

Maybe it's because I spent four years of my life surrounded by women in miniskirts but for a woman to be "asking for attention" she'd have to be hanging out around the city in a bikini or less.

Also to add, men's clothing tends to be less 'attention grabby' than women's clothing anyway and men who do wear 'attention grabby' men's clothing end up on the receiving end of attention that though different, is just as bad as what a women would get.

I believe there are also health reasons for cooler temperature in public as well.

I've never come across a public building that felt like a furnace in the winter though, usually at most they're around 75 degrees. Not all comic artists want to spend every waking day drawing. Also drawing a comic in pencil with attention to detail when you're somewhat of a perfectionist probably takes a lot more time than the other comics out there. I think he said it takes him like 4-8 hours to draw a single comic? I don't know about you but I find 8 hours of my day to be a lot of time, especially if I have interests in doing other things. Usually my hand starts to get tired within 7 hours of nonstop drawing. Oh and just so you know, the more you draw the better you get, not necessarily the faster you get.

You have to remember that Fred tries to stay present among his fans even though he creates the most popular graphic novel-style comic on the web and has a store to run. I know Seraphim (whom he also has to spend time with) helps him but it still doesn't mean he doesn't have other things to do. Including other artistic pursuits such as another graphic novel he wants to create.

I detect a hint of jealousy in your post, maybe it's because you think you have to work harder than Fred to make less money? Maybe you should quit your day job and do the same thing if you think you could do a better job.

Here's another comic where the artists will not sacrifice the best they can do in quality for speed: http://alpha-shade.com/

The artist there is also doing it full time, and it takes him a lot more work than Fred to complete a single page, even though his brother is the writer.

So, are you suggesting that Fred should post comics when he can't draw at or above his standards because he's either too exhausted to or having a bad day? Personally I'd think you'd appreciate someone trying to bring you the highest quality stuff they can get you, especially if they think you might actually purchase it from them in the form of a book.

I don't know, I feel that my iPod is a better quality product than the iRiver. Simple and easy interface, minimalistic industrial design, and excellent sound quality (as long as you're not using the built in equalizer, which you shouldn't have to anyway if you have a good pair of headphones). The iPod doesn't have an FM tuner for a good reason, it's a personal digital media player not a radio. If you want to listen to the crap that is radio than there are really small and cheap devices (some I think even attach to the iPod to sap power if you want) that allow this. You can in fact view text files on the iPod, just drop a text file in your "Notes" folder. The iPod does support voice recording with an accessory. Based upon what seems to be Apple's product design guidelines, adding a voice recorder directly to the iPod would only add additional complication that most people wouldn't bother using anyway.

And you fail to see why Apple would never release an ultimate product out in the wild when they could use it to get more money out of it's customers (like any company should do). Apple makes more money off of hardware sales, so if they can use OS X as a way to get people to buy their hardware then they will. I also believe Apple is more of a 'control freak' company than most. They want to create an entire user experience. I'm sure a lot of slashdotters think that's snobish or evil or whatever but as someone who likes to get every related detail exactly the way I want it when I create something, I can certainly understand it. I also prefer it because I believe it results in better products. The Gran Turismo franchise for the Playstation is also controlled by a perfectionist and you rarely hear complaints about it outside of feature requests and the typical, "It's not my kind of thing".

So these people/companies figure that if they can't do something in a way that's satisfactory to their standards or if it disrupts their vision in some way, they just simply won't do it and since I'm also somewhat anti-convergance, I hope Apple continues to keep the iPod a portable digital media device and will not bloat it with unnecessary PDA-like features. Now if only they'd do something about the equalizer since some people can't afford to pay $120+ for a good pair of earbuds.

Wow, just wow. Cartoons have absolutely no link to pedophilia. I believe most fans of cartoons would tell you that they outright detest the disgusting people who abuse children. I'll say it once again, watching cartoons has no link to underage sexual activity.

Yes some anime capitalizes on the whole schoolgirl thing, but I really don't see much that capitalizes on it intentionally in a sexual way, a lot of live action films capitalize on things like racial and sexual stereotypes so you probably would have complaints about those too right?. You're forgetting that some shows have a completely legitimate reason for what their characters wear. If the series is about a bunch of Japanese school kids then what do you want would you expect them to be wearing? Since Japanese cartoons are still cartoons, you can bet your ass that there will be anatomic incorrectness and exaggerations (there are other forms of art that do this) and stylization according to the head artist's wishes, sometimes this means a 'sexy' look which you usually find in shows that are not targeted at kids. I'd also like to point out that there are shows that go to the flipside of cutsie look, but based upon your predisposition that all anime fans are scary perverts, you'd probably find something wrong with that as well.

Also I'd like to point out that American cartoons, even ones for kids can also be accused of 'idealizing' the human body (See Aladdin). I also find it interesting that you didn't complain about cartoon men that have insanely huge muscles and upper torsos that tear shirts...Or maybe it's because you don't find that for some unknown reason

I doubt being a woman would taint your perspective, there are many women who like cartoons and anime. In fact, in high school I was vice president of our anime club, and out of 15 members, there were only 3 guys who regularly came (including me). The president was a girl.

You seem to be badly misinformed or just ignorantly throwing punches because you really seem to know nothing about cartoons and the 'culture' surrounding them. I bet that you've blamed past relationship problems on cartoons. As someone else said, I bet you really hate the artists who draw cartoons.

Also, playing MMORPGs can technically get you 'somewhere' For example, the reason MMORPGs are appealing to me is because of the social aspect which in fact does 'get you somewhere'. It's a great way to get to know different people around the globe, sometimes you make friends. Also the technically not allowed practice of selling game money does something. Also to point out, if your friends never tried to get you away from your gaming habits previously, they probably weren't very good friends to begin with. For example, unlike Compaq did several years ago. I doubt Apple would stick an extremely noisy and failure prone hard drive, terribly unstable winmodem, and give me a laptop video chipset in a desktop AGP slot. Apple's own operating system is very picky about RAM, thus whatever company makes their DIMMs has to provide a reliable stream of good RAM.

If you buy a stack of Apple DVD-Rs, you'll find that the actual maker of those discs are the ones that get very good comments in all the discussion about good media. Even if Apple doesn't hand craft every single component in their machines, they at least don't stick bargain bin quality components in their machines.

Of course I may be wrong about the other companies now, I've stopped buying premade desktops for a while now so I don't know if they've stopped putting shit components in their machines.
