    If you are derefencing a null pointer there is an error in your program. It is a symptom, not the cause the problem. You are a poor programmer.

    The programmer let it happen, not the language. The point is that NULL pointer problems are not significant issues. The difficulty with programming is logic errors. The fact that you think that things like NULL pointers are significant makes you a bad programmer.

  5. This is a good idea. I donated. If you don't have Open Source, you have no idea what your systems are doing. If the Intel debacle has taught us anything, it has taught us closed hardware is bad too.

    So there is a glut of cheap labor but it is hard to get folks to work in a NOC? Makes sense to me. No one wants to work in a NOC because the job itself sucks.

    It is hard to find good AI people, because AI does not exist. All you have are algorithms and clever parlor tricks. The hardest people to find are people who will work in Silicon Valley for $50,000.

    Exactly. +1 Insightful. Crashing, null pointers are easy to find and fix. The fact that you still have dangling references and reference NULL pointers just shows you aren't a very experienced programmer. You can avoid all that in C++ as well by using smart pointers. The issue with programming is not NULL pointers and crashing.

    The sound created by warmth of a CD is much superior to the digital streaming formats. Try listening to Gaga's latest on CD vs on iTunes and you will know what I mean.

  25. Totally agree. Those self checkout machines are AI. They can also be programmed to play Go and Chess too. Soon they will program them to be doctors. And then truck drivers. It truly is a scary situation.
