  1. The reason I don't use my in car GPS is 2 fold. 1) unknown street addresses ('find me the nearest computer store', works quite well in google not so much in a non-internet connected gps unit) 2) being unable to program it while driving (most incar gps units wont let you add addresses while the car is in motion, this is normally not a problem is i'm alone and would pull over, but if a passenger is in the front seat next to me having to pull over for them to program it is annoying to say the least)

  2. Except if you have a car designed to work in cold climate and they put lead into the glass to stop it cracking. Then don't expect too much signal to make its way into the vehicle.

    I simply disagree.

An International body would require a consensus to subvert such speech. This consensus would require input from all member nations including the states. This is a better system to govern infrastructure that is used globally. What we don't want is what happened with GPS in that both the EU (GNSS) and Russia (GLONASS) brought out alternatives due to the control/restriction that the USA held. DNS only works well because everyone is using it. If 1/2 the internet decided to start using a non-compatible alternative to the other 1/2 how well do you think it would work then. We need to help improve DNS by giving more weight to DNSSEC just like we've strengthened the web by improving SSL adaption over the last few years.

I'm not trying to claim that other governments are any better but it's disingenuous to say that the press is 'fully protected' from gov/mil.

Lawyers don't need to worry about AI they just need to worry about outsourcing. Welcome to IT's world snowflake.
