    Looks like every Microsoft troll on the planet has suddenly descended on Slashdot. The amount of outright FUD and sheer lies being spouted is incredible.

    My Mandrake experience?
    3 networked desktops at home - each up and running in half an hour.

    In KDE ??? Works fine.

    urpmi win32-codec - or use the GUI software package tools.

    yeah - but Hawkings change his ideas based on extremely complicated mathematics. And his ideas on black holes are just that - ideas. We're trying to work out how black holes work by using mathematics and nothing else. Of course, we're going to make mistakes - but correcting those mistakes is part and parcel of the progression of science.

    You, on the other hand, hold onto a fairy tale , made up by desert nomads thousands of years ago.

    If you don't want to use your brain, then that's your problem.

    I came across Linux In Easy Steps whilst browsing a bookstore today, and it's a great great book.
    I sticks to the Mandrake install, covers all the usual stuff (playing music, editing files, browsing blah blah) , and then finishes off with a bit of bash scripting.
    A superb intro for the newbie Linux people - i heartily reccomend it.

    No , i'm not connected with the book or the publisher in any way - i was just impressed with the layout and the usage of screenshots and the step by step explanations within , in purely non-geek terminology.

    wow - somebody else is annoying by the death of twiddly knobs on car radios. that's my major gripe and it annoys the hell out of me - in the past i could turn a dial. dead easy whilst driving.

    now i'm feeling around for tiny buttons (cos my eyes are always on the road) - so while i meant to change a station, i end up turning the bass up to +12.

    AAARGH!!!!

    bring back the dial on car radios!!!!

    On that Micro$haft "facts" site, there's a Forrester report stating that Windows is more secure than Linux.

    Suse, Debian ,RedHat AND Mandrake have responded to this - you can see their combined statement here

    They appear to be quite angry about this , as their security teams provided data and research to Forrester in good faith , only to find out that their data was discounted, and the Forrester research was merely a front for Micro$hafting FUD.
