Some of you might be too young to remember me when I was President of the United States, but I've also been in several episodes of Futurama. I'm heard a lot of you computer nerds were fond of that show. It is too bad those bastards at Fox canceled the show. They were going to make me one of the main characters instead of just a guest star.

Well, there was one episode that had Nathan completely nekkid, but he wasn't riding a horse at the time. You might have a point about control switches, but they already built the Firefly set for the TV series, and it was a pretty cool set too. You could actually do a pan from one end of the ship to the other.
Any solution to the "P2P conflict" will have to center around getting entertainers to stop signing with the RIAA. Once that happens, the RIAA has absolutely no power over the entertainer and the means they choose to distribute their music.
There is also the problem that the majority of music is purchased by people with little musical knowledge: Teenagers
Their primary exposer to music is mainstream radio, thus without knowing that anything better exists, they are happy to eat up the tripe the RIAA serves them.
I suggest that we start kidnapping teenagers, tying them up, and forcing them to listen to music like John Coltrane and Miles Davis.

On a more serious note, while teenagers tend to buy more music, us grown ups do have more disposable income. If we want to loosen the RIAA's power we need to support non-RIAA artists, especially those who are openly critical of the RIAA, Clear Channel, and support p2p systems.
Or, on a smaller scale, if you are thinking of buying 2 cds, but only have the money to buy one, and one is on an RIAA label, and the other isn't.....

We are losing soldiers every day in an unpopular, unnecessary war halfway around the world. Millions of people have turned out in protests against the war.... We have a dishonest Republican president whose administration is (or will be) tarnished by scandal.

Lets put that in perspective for a moment. You don't mind the government putting your reading habits in a database, which can be used to gather statistics and flag books. If a person reads too many "red" books, they go up a few marks on the terrorist charts.

Communism is very similar to fascism except instead of the government ruling every aspect of your life it is a corporation.
There are many kinds of socialism including Libertarian Socialism. Unfortunately, authoritarians tend to get a lot more done, hence the power of the Fascists (Franco Mussolini & Hitler) and of Communism (Lenin, Stalin). And I haven't even studied Trotsky yet so I don't really know where he stood.
Unfortuantely, a lot of people think that all Muslims are alike, and therefore any middle-eastern or Muslim country (They usually don't think that there are any in eastern Africa or SE Asia) are all members of Al Qaeda. They don't consider that most members of Al Qaeda are Wahabis, and are as out to exterminate the Shiia majority of Iraq as heathens in the USA.
If you try to explain this some people will call you a liberal and suggest you go back to Afganistan or whatever if you hate freedom.

It is possible that big companies would see themselves as being overlooked in enforcement. After all, they are the copyright cartel, it's impossible for them to violate copyright. And VCRs will still exist by being grandfathered in.
