Classes start up at my university tomorrow. In memory of this fine man I shall observe a moment of silence every day at lunch this week while I enjoy my noodly meal.
Can we get a link? So far as I know most publishers are pretty open about their submission requirements. Also is "multi-author reference book" really a representative sample of the publishing industry? Third, who are you? If you really are a published writer why are you submititng as AC?
As you move the slider forward through time you start to see less "computer" words (like Altair, cassette, floppy etc) and more "business" words (agreement, indemnification, patented etc). That's very telling all by itself.
They really are still working on it. Sometime in the near future they're going to release a demo and set a firm shipping date. We'll all play the demo and it'll so rad everyone will have a video game induced orgasm and toss out all their copies of the now obsolete Halo. The day before the actual release Jesus will return and send everyone off to their just reward, meaning no one will ever actually get to play the damn thing since video games are way to evil to be allowed in Heaven and way to fun to be allowed in Hell.
Wow, that one's pretty good. I poked around on the internet yesterday and saw a couple but they were all more than that and didn't have the fancy stereo-like case. I'm gonna be buying a big new tv pretty soon and I might pick up one of those to go with.
I don't like to reply to myself but I thought I'd offer another example.
The last two summers I was an instructor at a computer camp (I will name them it's id Tech Camps, if you're looking for a good computer camp for your kids or some nerdy summer work you really can't go wrong, they're an awesome company. Note that I no longer work for them, this isn't any kind of paid pitch). they give the director of each camp location a bunch of money to treat the other staff at the end of the summer. The first year I was there we all went out to dinner in Seattle and the second year the director used the money to throw a party at her house. In addition we got extra money every week to pay for lunch and the work was a real blast.
Strange that a big company can't shell out a little to treat permanent employees, but a fairly small company like idTech was happy to spring a little to say thank you to temporary ones.
Yeah I have also worked retail around the holidays. In addition to no bonus you also get the gift of millions of pissed off, rude, surly customers. What is it about christmas shopping that makes people so evil? Ever since then I've always tried to be especially nice to cashiers and sales people around christmas.
One of the years I was working retail was in the electronics section at a large department store (I won't say which but it rhymes with Fred Buyers), that was even worse. Not only were the customers they're usual selves but I had to try to explain the difference between 2 and 4 head VCRs (this was right around the turn of the century when DVDs hadn't quite taken off yet), whether they should buy a Playstation or a Nintendo 64 for their kids, was this movie any good etc etc.
My theory on that is that microsoft has an all or nothing kind of philosophy. If you use windows you're also supposed to use office, IE, visual studio, MSN, windows media player, etc etc. For computer power users that's a pain in the ass. Big nerd like us like having lots of choices and the ability to do lots of tweaking and whatnot.
But for games all a lot of people want to do is just sit down and play the damn game. There are exceptions of course, people who overclock and all that good stuff, but for the most part when you're gaming you're trying to relax and have fun and you don't want to mess around with installing and configuring a bunch of stuff. The xbox (and other consoles) allow you to do that. So in that one application the microsoft way of doing things works well.
Seriously, most sci-fi sucks because it's all about pushing buttons and closing broken steam valves on whatever ship you happen to be flying around on.
No, no, no, most sci-fi tv sucks. Books are a whole different ball game.
The values of metals fluctuates much faster than the time it would take the mint to first determine what material to use, design the new coinage and produce it in useful quantities. Though id you had read the post, not the article just the post, you would have noticed something about them doin just that.
I appreciate your constructive criticism. The sig arose out of a conversation I had with my brother about a high school teacher we both had (him some years after me). I could explain but it would be pretty tedious and you would probably find it even less funny than my sig.
I've been thinking about changing it anyway as I've been using that one for quite some time. I really like your suggestion but I prefer to use something I come up with myself.

You are like the e e cummings of ./ posts.
Be careful what you predict or we might be linking to you for laughs in a few years.

Compare August 12 with the age of the Earth. It's a new island.
I don't know much about Austrian history but I'm going to guess Vienna isn't as old as the continent.

I have a non-apple mp3 player that supports movies. I'll rip whatever the hell I want to it.
iPod or similar device.
How about a link?
Noe that I think about it You've got mail did get computers right. Too bad it was such a horrible piece of garbage in every other possible respect.

I knew that reading/viewing all that science fiction would pay off someday.
Minority Report, foolish earth human. Based on a Phillip K Dick story of the same name.
"Why? We don't need it."
"sudo buy it"
"ok"
With apologies to xkcd

Welcome aboard newb. What flavor of linux are you jumping into?

It sounds to me like they're finally going to do one of these with some actual drama and grit. I wonder what the temperature in hell is right now.
