Just as the rest of the dinosaurs who think anything and everything has to be bolted down with DRM, this "cosole" is made for THEM, not for the gamers, and they are terrified of any online-delivery that has people paying for bits instead of media. The only way they'd touch it is if they could somehow destroy the user's computer, or its ability to run the games, if they did at any point anything that showed more initiative than sitting down and mushing buttons.
Enter the Phantom.
This is going to flop so badly it's going to dwarf the N-Gage. It'll be hella entertaining, in a "road side multiple accident" kind of morbid way.
>>You can do ANYTHING with games, movies, stories, or art...so why stick to simulating real life?
That's fine and dandy for the developer. But as a gamer, I want to be the one doing whatever *I* want, not what the programmer want me to do and only that. As the article said, in Japan games are supposed to be very linear and take the player by the hand through the storyline. Western games like GTA3 or Morrowind are much more open.
> Doubt it. The Y chromosome is a mutation of the X chromosome and contains much less information.
Well, that's why you want to use two parents, each carries an X chromosome. I'd guess it'd involve the use of Cyst Progenitor Cells and an Artificial Womb.
> this research and my time machine seem about equally incomplete
Absolutely. The great thing about it is that I can also give him a recommendation before he leaves thanks to freedom of speech: "Don't let the door hit you on your way out!".
Just a few miles above your head. Sure is a huge company. The point is that none of the "usual" big octopus corporations have their tentacles on it (yet), the geeks that started it are still the geeks that run it. Unlike Amazon.
Hope it's clear enough for you Mr. Dumbass. Perhaps next time you should spend more time thinking and less time being offended.
There has been a lot of discussion regarding GMail and Google's privacy policies. However, with the recent debut of Amazon's A9.com, I havn't seen any mention to the information they intend to collect.
My point was directed at that. We've seen doomsayers on newspapers about GMail and even some dumbass politician who was drafting a law to make it illegal, yet this toolbar has pretty much been launched without even a side comment from them.
Google is just a company started by a few geeks that made it big because they give an excellent service and that's it. Amazon is infested by the long tentacles of certain corporations and that's what matters to their business.
Guess which one is going to be slammed by the "traditional media" time and again.

As in Bob The Angry Flower:

You do realize you've just given some people an excellent idea, don't you?
>it's not to keep you from copying/sharing, rather to guarantee quality and authenticity.
You know what? I'd rather take my chances and have to throw away some downloaded bits.
And I'm thinking they better finish the demonstration before 9 pm and wash their hands afterwards or they'll get into trouble...
Same here, what the hell?
If I ever intended to do something like that my guess is it'd be a handful of perl scripts, don't think I'd need anything fancier.

You mean like this?
I though for a second you had made a preemptive slashdotting.
Based on what you've pointed out. In hollywood movies there's nothing a good nuke can't solve. Nothing.

That's what Ebay is for

Ain't freedom grand!
CowboyNeal for President!

I mean, that's the natural next step from their post-it notes after all.
Paper, I guess that "erasing data" has a whole new meaning now.
They have obviously gained with the zipping:
Packed: 97,256
Unpacked: 97,280
It's quite obvious the original assertion is misleading since it's zipped and it's smaller!
Man, having a Tux rock would be so freaking cool, and funny :)
It's called a "Game".
Your call.
>Dooes it runs Lunix?
Not sure about Lunix, but it does run Linux.
Does that mean the universe is about to implode?
I typed that in 5 seconds, go me!
>> ...in 4 days playfair has gone to second place on their download counter. Jeepers.
After your post in slashdot the download counter is now #1 in the download counter webpage. What a world...
Except for that "Could not connect to the database" thingy that is.
Actually the other half of the world is in Autumn. Didn't you learn the four seasons in school?
