    Those are all mild examples; of course you could just look at the moderation of the post you just replied to.

    It also seems that you have to go WAY over the line in order to get a liberal rant modded as -1 flamebait. The mildest of conservative jabs get immediately modded down as flamebait.

    Why do I have to provide you with examples? Just read any thread about Global Warming at -1 and try to objectivly compare how the mod points are used. It jumps right out at you.

    I'd say that a large part of those who remain AC when posting comments on politically charged subjects are doing so because what they are posting is contrary to the editorial slant of slashdot. Basically any post that is not leftist in nature will be modded down either by editors with unlimited mod points or censorship-happy leftists.

    This includes posts that are well said, have references, and have no troll factor whatsoever.

    I see a consistant effort to stifle free thought through perversion of the mod system.

    The fact that you claim to be very happy with the status quo whilst apparently being a hard left advocate kind of makes my point.

    So, do you think I should be modded down (usually as overrated - even when no mod points have been applied) for this post?

    I myself am in the autism spectrum, but I have progressed to the point where I understand *why* normal people are the way the are and why it is good that things are the way they are.

    Here are some non-standard flags to look for that I have noticed AS folks display:

    Argumentiveness

    Always asking "why?"; both at appropriate and non-appropriate times. (see the tipping scene in "Reservoir Dogs")

    Evangelism in certain things or ideas; both at appropriate and non-appropriate times. (does your girlfriend really *have* to run Linux?

    Inabilty to *really* understand an opposing point of view. (Republicans want make their buddies rich and keep minorities down)

    Rigidity in most things

    Don't blame the educational system for being geared toward handling 99.9% of the population. Obviously you are in the autism spectrum. Look up Asperger's Syndrome for a start.

    Utah is a prosperous state with a highly educated and industrious populous. Anything bad that you are hearing is generated by Left-Wingers who are threatened by the Right-wing slant of the state.

    Basically they have all the good and bad of every state in the union; in varying degrees. They have a lot of rural areas which drag then down a bit in the statistics.

    I think that the USSR was considered an enemy because we were in the way of them accomplishing their stated goal of world conquest. They threatened to nuke us several times if we interfered.

    Uh, we found some stuff that was from a project that is public knowledge. The fact that the suits still exist is not news either; it is not like they throw those kinds of things out. I don't think they are biodegradable.

    I have not seen any consistantly funny web comics. Most are painfully UNFUNNY. What does "unfunny" mean? That means they are the opposite of funny. They suck the funniness out of other things.

    Unfunny web comics killed my inner child.
