This will never survive the legal challenges it will face. At least some of these companies can claim to be "legitimate" businesses. Of course if they just produce the list of addresses we can surely work out something involving wget for ourselves.
Of course "normal people" love it when you extend your OS evangelicalism to their Chistmas day.
And don't say that it is only to help them.
The Jehovah's Witnesses knocking on your door are trying to help you too.
Just like spreading any other religion; it is better when THEY ASK YOU.
There goes my karma...
Until the majority of the people out there have the critial thinking skills to deal with this sort of thing the problems will continue. The same people who are stupid enough to give out their info to someone who e-mails them are the one buying shit from SPAM e-mails.
Now that there are changes to the way that directx is being implemented; does this open the door for a greater acceptance of opengl for games? It is important for opengl to be used as it is much more likely that a game will be ported to Linux if it is used.
is when are we going to move completely to a download - based delivery system for video/music? It is clear that the record companies are using media (physical cd/dvd/tapes) to justify the insane cost of entertainment. As soon as we take manufacturing out of the picture the consumers will realize that they are being ripped. I imagine it takes about 20 cents to stamp out a DVD when you do them in huge quantitities.
I think that like Star Trek that Star Wars may need to be retired for a decade or two. Let a demand build and use that time to write a quality script or two. I love the idea of the series but perhaps it could be executed better.
I'm tired of filtering through the mountains of spam my users get everyday. There can be no legal recourse - the solution must be technological. I see this as a good thing.
I trust the slashdot editors here; everyone has some sort of balance - I appreciate that they are making it easier to discuss the issues of the day. Thanks guys.
He's nothin' but a low-down, double-dealin', back-stabbin', larcenous, perverted worm!!
Hangin's too good for him!!
Burnin's too good for him!!
He should be torn into little bitsy
pieces and buried alive!!!
Who cares about the warranty anyways? The data on that drive is a whole lot more important. Losing $100K of data through a hole in your backup strategy is a injury that will not be healed by the replacement of a $175 disk drive.
Seig Heil! Why so down on non-USA folks? A little xenophobic perhaps?
>>Why give job to Americans when you can give to foriegners
Uh, the job should go to the most capable - right? Sometimes that is outside your borders. Did you complain when India was hiring people from the USA to get their stuff done for the last 30 years?
>>all so a few CEO's can get even richer
CEO's are employees of Corporations. Corporations are owned by those who own stock. About 70% or better of the citizens of the US are in some way invested in the Stock Market. The CEO's job is to not squander the investors money. People have their financial future tied into the stock market; their retirements. You seem to have little concern about *their* financial health.
The USA no longer has a monopoly of tech skills; we better get used to that and adjust. If we use the government to place artificial barriers to competition then we will be cutting our own throats. We make better cars now than we used to - competition from the Japaneese and others did that. If we had put severe restrictions on imports - we would still make totally shitty cars.
Do these sorts of things hurt their business? I wonder how many would not buy into Intle knowing that there are these sorts of things built in? I imagine that the big corps don't care.
What is to stop Microsoft from releasing this at the end of the year and then relasing the NEXT version a few months after the PS3? They would get all the folks who picked up a Xbox 2 looking to get the 3. This would greatly expand their user base. They have a lot of $$$ to throw at this.
That said; it was pretty easy in Mandrake 10.0 Official to set up a 3 disk Software RAID 5 with 200Gb disks. Supposedly if one goes bad I can just remove it and put in another one and boot up - regeneration is supposed to be automatic.

It is amazing what happens when the FCC de-regulates part of the spectrum.
My customers want RANGE. I need to be able to cover a large home with one AP (placed where ever it is most convenient) and cover the house and yard.

How can a comment be marked "over-rated" if it has not been rated yet? WTF?

diverse spectrum of political ideologies. We run all the way from "A" to "B".
My stock in Corel has been slacking for some years. Does this mean a new version of Word perfect is coming out?

Yes, it was excellent.
When is the first name change scheduled?

You mean they will be right in front of me? In daily use? I don't understand...
Horrible

I think that this would be a great "Ask Google" question. Which RAID for a Personal Fileserver?
