I invested $1400 in the stock market when I was a senior in HS. Before I did so, however, I tried to understand a few companies and what made their prices rise or fall. Once I put my money down and bought a few shares, I was making $80 a day on some days, and once made $400 a day. Considering all the losses (which are unavoidable), I made a few thousand before I withdrew and invested my money elsewhere: my own business. I say good luck to thee, anonymous coward!:)
Riight. Because virus writers are always so responsible, right? Don't you think that any virus writer who is irresponsible enough to unleash it (not counting instances when they're paid to do it or compensated in some other way) would be irresponsible and stupid enough not to foresee the effect on the OSS/Linux community? Unless you want to be paranoid about it, that is the only good explanation.
SCO isn't really a "high profile" target. In fact, most people outside of the IT community don't know who or what SCO is. It takes someone with knowledge (obviously) and a state of mind. What is the current state of mind of the OSS/Linux community? Obviously, it is one of resentment and anger? Can you deny that? One only need glance at Slashdot's headlines to prove my point.
While the author's actions are not indicative of the actions of the open source community, it is an easy bet that he/she/them is in support of dethroning SCO and a clear fanatic of everything Slashdot stands for. Unless this is a false DDOS, implicated by SCO, but that's a bit paranoid, IMHO.
I had the chance to try it out at NAMM and it is VERY difficult to get it to "sing." It can probably be used adequately for backup vocals, but again, it takes a lot of work to get it to sound human. Nevertheless, a step in the right direction.
I don't give a damn. I would have perhaps when I was thirteen and trying to emulate my heroes, but it would be utterly pointless now. Thus, I don't care to see any of those desktops.
I would like to thank you and your colleagues for making this happen! Every mission undertaken by the agency is a chance to excite, amaze, and educate everyone involved and onlookers, as well, and this mission is no different. Only with hard working and talented individuals like yourself can such feats be accomplished, and just as Columbus and Armstrong have gone down in history for their sense of adventure and for their accomplishments, the team that made these missions possible will also forever live on in the history books.
How many times must one say that it is not just about enjoying the benefits of overclocking, but also of seeing how hard machine can be pushed. It is the choosing of parts, the executing of technique. It is just like Bob putting a big block in his pinto. Sure, it's not ideal for business meetings or family trips to the supermarket, but that's totally missing the point. Capiche?
While we don't necessarily use different parts of the brain for *all* activity, there is certainly redundancy and distribution. Some parts work in conjunction with others, and if certain parts are removed or damaged, the distribution (and therefore redundancy) are able to perform the same functions. I didn't RTFA, but I will now!:)
The batteries can only recharge a certain number of times. Furthermore, there is no way of cleaning the solar panels, so they lose their efficiency over time. That's probably what contributed to its death and you're making a big deal out of a piece of crap rover.
The Columbia crash was on the first of February. The rockets took off like two or three months later. That's PLENTY of time. The only reason they'd fake something like this would be to funnel funds for some nefarious means under the guise of planetary exploration, but that's wacko, conspiracy theorist explanation.
He's not talking about merely colorization (in this case, redder than it is), but the the fact that the colors of the sundial do not match in the pictures is a bit disturbing. Why don't they match? If it was a uniform coloration, it would be understandable. Or is it perhaps a mistake and that they meant to color the other two colored areas?
No one worth his weight in popcorn would believe thta our view of the universe is complete. If anything, it is generally agreed that we're barely scratching the surface of the wonders and secrets that lie within.
You're wrong, actually. The parachutes on the Beagle will be used to find it, as they were bigger than the resolution of the Mars Express camera. Furthermore, Colin Pillinger suggested that they can even use the gas signatures of the retrorockets to identify the locations.
I believe this is very possible. We still haven't completely figured out GRB's, let alone the universe. I believe that mass extinction would be likely in any planet old enough to achieve the technology to determine it, and this due only to the lenght of time which presents opportunities for such events to take place. Sure, there's no proof, but it's interesting.
I will waste as much as I want by buying new computers and throwing the old ones away! Try and stop me, suckers!

You're gonna blow your $7K will on a network for your building? Invest it, man, then from your profits implement such a network. A big waste, IMHO.

Thanks and congrats!
Congrats to everyone who made this possible!
Do you have proof of this? It sounds like complete bunk to me.
I've been meaning to get one for myself, but haven't yet found the time.
Fuel Cell Kit

..and I agree. It is a major annoyance for me, as well.
Stupidest post I've ever read on Slashdot, but hey, that's the beauty of freedom of speech: any moron can say absolutely anything!
Who submitted the dealie?
You must be thinking of the Beagle...
;)
I hear it's only a mile in circumference...

P.S. Pink Floyd + Deep Purple rule.
