This type of market cannot work, becuase of small thinks like that, the phone company should have the right to issue phone numbers so they can be issued to those who need it. This market of selling numbers won't last in other venues either for this and many other reasons. Sorry I wasn't more clear in this post.

They would create a cross-platform Office program that is better then OpenOffice. OpenOffice is what I use, but I can say without a doubt it has some major flaws. If IBM created one that could compete with Office and was opensource, and then cheap or free for the binary, it might start being used. Just porting a really horrible office program isn't going to appeal to most linux users, it is also going to support M$ more. This is not the right direction for IBM to go, and I for one hope this project is stopped.

I think the main reason for this is when it comes to computers, most people wouldn't be able to handle to power of linux. Plus Linux doesn't meet everyones purpose, things like boot time mater to some people more than others. I have linux on my laptop and the boot time is a factor there, but because I would still rather use linux when I am not gaming or other things that more applications are made for. Servers are used because sysadmins have the ability to use linux, while the majority of people don't have the ability. Linux will have to change before this figure changes.

The type of quality needed to carry multiple frequencies can't be done on any type of wire, powerlines won't be able to cut it. This seems like a really bad idea, mostly the FCC trying to take on a role that it isn't.
