Hate to say it, but not honoring some rebates is the only way they can continue to offer them.
so stop offering them! If you have no intention of paying, or plan to use a loophole to withhold payment if they place a comma in the wrong spot, that's just wrong
The economic bracket that goes to Disney World, for one. But really- how much does the regular disposable camera end up costing you? And how many of the shots do you waste because there's no preview/delete?
They sell it more than once. To the consumer, the "disposable" angle is that they only use it once, and return it when the pictures are developed.
With a 35mm camera, you don't get to delete pictures and review pretty screenshots before you print. It's just not the same.
Worth the extra $? Perhaps, perhaps not- depends on how much $ you have to throw around. But I'd hardly call this a "futile" attempt. It will make the next round of similar cameras even better and cheaper. There's money in it.
If you read either the article or existing comments you'd notice that this process is limited by the speed of light. The latency is still there with this system. Removing it would be wonderful, yes, but this will not do it. Nothing currently known to physics will. Nothing currently known to be knowable by physics will. And precious little thought to be possibly knowable by physics will either.
I thought that allofmp3.com was the site people keep saying is run by the Russian mafia and is possibly illegal, almost definitely immoral, and is otherwise wrong?
Yes, to *serve* the tokens. Not to compute the tokens- other people do that. It'll just give you work and check the incoming result, which is *not* computationally expensive.
Conspiracy to commit distributed Denial of Service attacks probably falls under something illegal. Doesn't matter whether reloading the page itself is illegal.
Why should I work when I can just press a button for food?
Even today, we are at a spectacular point in history: there is so much food that it is not the richest people who are the fattest, but the poorest. Your weight isn't about whether you can afford gaining calories with food, but whether you can afford to lose them through (premium) diet foods and exercise (at the gym or otherwise, a notable time expenditure) Think about that, and compare it to millenia of history.
If you're going to mention Wikipedia, it's OK to link it. We have Squid caches which will handle serving the Main Page under a slashdotting just fine.:)
It's only when you link to an article that someone needs to protect it (or worse- link to a talk page like CmrdTaco did the other day).
You're both right, of course. Skills are what it's about, one hundred percent. All that other stuff is just there so the athlete can hone his (or her) skills.
I prefer the Flash Click to View extension for Firefox (although I haven't seen a version for 0.9! WHERE'S MY VERSION FOR 0.9?!?!?!). This replaces the Flashiness with abig grey button I can click if I want it to show for some reason (the inane web site). I find that WITHOUT the plugin, I get message boxes complaining about the lack of the plugin far too often.
If it lasts for 3 years, for instance, there's your = 5% right there. No need to invoke Moore's Law for something like this. If two families share a computer, them it's even less.
Forget the power. Power is doable for many poor countries... it's the monthly Internet access fee which will kill you. At $50/mo for standard broadband in the United States (YMMV), that's far more than the price of the computer in a year. What are Internet access rates like in these countries? How many people can share a decent pipe? I assume the village will go for a pooled Internet connection to the wireless access point, but what's the cost effectiveness of this?
A note on the name. As far as Wikipedia is concerned, due to software settings, the page is named Internet with a capitol I. The MediaWiki software, as set, currently capitalizes the first letter of all articles.
That said... Dude, cmdrtaco! Why are you linking to a talk page from Slashdot? =b Now I've had to go and protect it from editing. Articles, sure, that's OK, but talk pages? This is new.

Forget skinning it. Release an explorer.exe shell replacement. *THAT* would be more worthwhile.
Yeah, our family was selected for one of those a short while ago. I think we logged in one show during the two weeks or so we had it... :)

You don't throw the camera away. You take it back to the drugstore for processing, where they reset, refurbish and generally sell it again.
Claim: The Chevrolet Nova sold poorly in Spanish-speaking countries because its name translates as "doesn't go" in Spanish.
Status: False.

Pretty shiny logos, from what I can see of them. They're about half-resolution and not loading any further. Darn you /.! =b
Captain, Kirk, is that, you? You seem, to have, this, halting problem, as you, speak. :)

Query: If I have a number of 0.3s-of-silence tracks, can I shuffle them around to make new playlists?

It can tell you to which families you should send the flowers after everybody's dead.

Don't think Tech Support. Think 4 billion more PCs to 0wn and turn into spam-sending zombies. My inbox thanks you.

Enter the government subsidy.
Or, if that's not enough to your liking, perhaps more than one family can share the computer.
Actually, that's not a bad idea. If not overused, the inflatable tank technique is quite effective. :)
