So what exactly would be your recommendation for distributing games for the PSP? DVD? UMD was for distributing games first, and Sony decided to release some movies on the same format.
Basically they are seeing a trend in what UMD movies sell better than others. Comedy for instance is more likely to be watched over and over, then say an action movie IMHO.
"So in case you haven't already downloaded the movie from the Internet (bad, pirates, bad!).."
Oh please. I downloaded it, and watched it the day it was available online. Guess what? I'll be first in line to buy a copy when it comes out. Really, what do you think the % of people who will buy this haven't seen it already? I'd think it would at least be in the high 90s.
Anyhow this attitude pisses me off. Yes I download music, games, movies, and TV shows. Know what else? I also buy a crap load of music, games, movies, and TV seasons. Some of my downloading is to try before I buy, other times it's because I don't feel like ripping 10 gigs worth of CDs, and crap if you watch '24' or 'Lost' missing an episode is like having one of your fingers cut off.
I completely agree, and I've been hoping for years that John R. will find someone to fill that technical void. The industry really needs people like both John C & R to work *together*, and get us out of this rut.
Did he steal your lunch money, or something? Why should you trust him? I don't know how to answer that question, because I honestly don't understand how he hurt you so.
I trust in his ability to bring forth the 'gamePLAY' portion of a game. As I said before if he has the right management / technical people with him, I trust he can live up to his track record. That record being VERY good with the exception of a few games made at Ion.
Yeah, so basically John started Ion Storm and made a couple turds. The problem wasn't the creative portion, it was the project and technical management.
What use to make id so great was the combination of John C. and John R. C had the technical know how and ability to push a project ahead with realistic technical goals. R had the creative vision to bring together original and fun game play / storyline.
Personally I feel that id has landed just as many turds since Romero left. The reason it seemed to go unnoticed is because of the big stiffy game mags / teens have for OMGR33TGRFX!
Anyhow, back to my point. John Romero has been involved in MANY very good, and successful games in the past (before Ion Storm). I don't see why he can't bring us more terrific games, if he manages to surround himself with the right kind team. Not sure if that's the case this time around, but either way I'm willing to bet this new MMO will actually be an original take on the genre.
Yeah I have a feeling I'm going to level my BST31 in mothballs until they finish 'tweaking' the class.
I do understand *why* they made the changes to try to fix MPKs. They will eventually find a different way to do it, or make BST a viable party class. The biggest problem will be the BST !Party mentality. It's hard to get an invite when you're a BST:(
Please piss off and stop crying. I come to your site and read your news while being distracted by your flashy advertising. This would not happen if not for Google News. Honestly, even if Google News advertised on their site and made a few bucks it's not going to harm you more than it helps you.
The medias reaction to the dropping of 'Beta' only further shows it's gross misunderstanding of technology, and the Internet. This is exactly what is wrong with the commercialization of News Media.
There have also been rumors flying regarding a level cap increase. I'm guessing it would only be 5 levels, and the real benefit would be the advantage of having your subjob capped at 40.
I don't know how this all got mixed up, but I am closely involved in Google's next acquisition. To bring all of these silly rumors to rest I am proud to formally announce that Google is going to buy my WANG.
That's right, it will be by invite only in it's beta stage next week.
"I don't want the government spying on its populace. That isn't really what is happening here. We're spying on OTHER peoples populaces, and should they happen to call someone inside our borders, well so be it. And as far as checks and balances go, again I'm really not so concerned as there are far more checks today than there ever have been."
Wow, you completely missed the point (or are just unwilling to hear it) of a well written comment. Your response only managed to reinforce the logic of comment you are replying to. *Sigh* If only I had saved a mod point:(
But they still need to remind us that coffee (the kind you drink) is hot. How about putting bright yellow labels on hand guns, with a stick man holding the gun to his head. Then a big red circle with a line through it?
Oh even better, DO NOT DRINK WATER labels on toilets!
Postal and Zip code distances can be calculated - every online dating site can tell you if you are X kms from another user based on postal code.
http://www.careerbeacon.com/ is a decent site if you are in/want to be in Atlantic Canada.
Oh hey there Mr. Thompson! I always wondered where you got all your great ideas from.
"made a stong impression"
I just can't keep up with all this new technobable lingo. I have no idea what a stong is!

Oh I never thought of the UMD, I would be very happy if is released on the format.

I'm getting a patent for Freedom Range Chicken.

Foe shissile.
Wow, your parents shouldn't let you watch so much CNN.

Apparently you didn't follow the link.. asshat.
"I worked for a newspaper (1999-2002 roughly) this wasn't a consideration."
I think the point is this is something which has changed a lot in recent years. Or at least that's what I got out of it.

Umm.. I know 1.5 million might sound like a big number to you, but in relation to world wide sales - it's not. Especially so for a 'launch'.
