New release in September, previous release only 6 months prior to that, a changelog in current at the ftp site that shows continuous update including 11 new/updated packages in the last 4 days ?
Explain to me in what way you think this is "barely" alive ?
Anybody know if it's still on the go ?
I remember thinking how great the windows versions were for programming compared to the early versions of access which were more likely to crash and corrupt your data than actually do anything useful.
What does it say on the 3rd page, it got./d before I got there.
And yes, I did know what all the screws were for. Even though I'm married I know about screwing.
Funnily enough, us UO players are amused as each new MMORPG comes onto the horizon and is hailed as a "UO killer".
UO is still alive because of all the reason you mention and added to that the versatility of the character system, with crafting and housing.
For some reason windows update wants to install Nvidia drivers from 6th October on my machine as opposed to the ones dated 9th December that I installed earlier.
"The only way they can have a long term money-making plan with Linux is if they get the GPL declared illegal, all developer contributions under it made into code in the public domain "
If the GPL doesn't apply then normal copyright laws apply leaving everybody who re-distributes any piece of GPL software open to legal action by the writers.
Copyright allows you to licence re-distribution of your work, that licence is the GPL, if you do not agree to it and still distribute the software you are in breach of copyright. Nice, plain, simple, just like Darl really:-)
You can download and install a vanilla kernel in Gentoo and the Slackware kernel is unpatched out of the box apart from the occasional security issue like ptrace.
As you say, most other distros are patched to within an inch of their life.
If a professional gamer is someone who makes a living out of playing a game then one look at Ebay will tell you that professional gamers are alive and well.
They have nothing to do with playing FPS in sponsored tournaments, they play MMORPGs and sell their stuff on ebay to make a comfortable living.
One search on Ebay for "Ultima Online" will show you just how valuable some of these pixels are.
I've had a lot of luck spam killing with Popfile from http://popfile.sourceforge.net/
Works very well once the initial training is done and is handy for basic mail classification as well.
During the rash of pay as you go ISPs here in the UK, AOL used the Netscape brand name for their PAYG offering.
It was, funnily enough, a cut down dial-up service from AOL but did at least have Netscape as the browser.
I've always found that Ian M Banks writes some good imaginative stuff.
The whole idea of the Culture and its associated mythos can take you anywhere you want to go in space or planet based SF. Even to the extent of visiting Earth as in one of his short stories.
"Slackware (well, its alive, but barely)"

Jared, They didn't go after Red Hat, Red Hat went after them.

That one turned up on the AberLUG mailing list the other day. It one came from Michael Surkan though.
Your one might be, mine installed first time when I fired it up.
Why would you need an installer for NWN Shadows of Unretide when there's already a native one on the disk ?

Thanks, must have missed that bit in the report, my test11 box will be safe enough then :-)
Interesting to look at this exploit and see how it works. Does it apply to the 2.6 kernels as well though ?

Popfile works very well for me as well, especially as it does basic classification as well.

I thought it was more of a comment on phone support drones reading from their scripts.
