It's single player. You can't visit your 'friends.' Also, there is an in-game setting to only download community content that has been reviewed and okayed by people at EA. Meaning no dicks, tits, or balls.

You can visit your "friends" if you go "outside". You know. That place people went before the "internet".

This is the first post I have bothered to log in to make for over a year. I can't belive we have gotten to the point where someone says "visit your friends" and another person assumes this could be done IF AND ONLY IF it is a multiplayer game.

Lucky you! Eventually statistics will catch up with you.

The same point about statistics can be said about pre-built PCs though. Last person I knew who ordered a box from dell had a problem where the PC would lock up every now and then... which he eventually noticed was more likely to happen if he bumped the pc. I popped the side of the case off and looked around found out the main power cable wasn't snapped into the motherboard all the way. When the pc was getting bumped or whatever it was shorting the system.

Additionally, I have worked in an it department for a university as a student assistant. When they bought computers it would be several hundred at a time (usually form compaq). Every time they added/upgraded a computer lab there would be pcs with broken items. Hdd failures, on board ethernet failures, cd-rom failures, ect. These were more or less low-end boxes; the same thing anyone looking to buy a cheap pre-built computer online would get from compaq.

When I order parts to build systems I typically order off monarchcomputing... they offer cpu/motherboard/ram of your choice pre installed/testing, at newegg comparable pricing. Havn't ordered anything in a while, but the last few times I did there was very little delay in shipping (although if you need to get stuff overnight this probably wouldn't work... I usually go for the 3-5 day ish shipping level).

I can see pros and cons on both sides. Ultimately, however, whatever system we have, the powerful companies will find a way to have people beholden to them and take their dollars. Copyright laws will be abused. Lack of copyright laws will also be abused.

While this might be true for an argument about something people actually need, Sony is selling entertainment. No one NEEDS a PS3 to live. People are not forced to buy video game consoles. If I stop you from drinking water, you will die. Quickly. The same is not true about a PS3. I don't have a PS3 and I won't be buying a PS3 anytime soon (if ever). Nothing obligates me to buy a PS3. Without one I will continue to live, very comfortably.

" Hmmm. I guess his guild is raiding Molten Core. :D
Honestly in WoW, you don't need to play this way until you get the stupid insanely rough end game."

Spendnig tha tmuch time is only required if you are trying to be the cutting-edge guild, getting all the "first kills" on your server. Most big raiding guilds with experiance clear molten core relitively quickly now. We do it in 2 4 hour runs a week. Throw in another 1-2 hours for Onyxia, and a 4 hour attempt at BWL, and you are talking 14 hours a week. With a set schedule, we have about 25 people who make all the raids, and another 25 or so who usually miss one. That gives us a pool of 50 players for a 40 man raid, without everyone being forced to make a huge time commitment.

Note that we are not, however, the most hardcore guild on our server. We don't punish people for missing raids (other than the fact that you can not receive an item in a raid you do not attend, btu that is inherint to the system). We could probably clear MC faster, but we generally spend some time screwing around on vent or whatever, or we get distracted by a horde raid on our way in, ect.

The main point of my post is that there is no need to play super hardcore. You can be competitive with a much more limited schedule. However, your options are a bit mroe limited (ie, I have time to farm MC weekly for tier 1 epics, and down the line BWL, but I do not really have time to PvP up to rank 14 and get the PvP epic sets/weapons).

I have ordered a handful of combos from them and recommended others without any problems. I enjoy building my own systems but it is nice not to have to worry about ram/motherboard incompatibilities or getting defective parts.

They also sell full systems including linux boxes. I fully agree that while installing and setting up everything yourself is nice, when time is limited or you can not dedicate an employee/department (depending on size) to supporting the hardware, an all-inclusive vendor can be very helpful.

Microsoft don't want to force anyone to access MS office remotely from their servers on Redmond or anything. Infact, they aren't even that interested in going thin client - why would they, it would reduce the number of windows licenses they can sell.
This is exactly my thinking. Today if "I" in the sense of a company wants to write a document I have to buy two licenses from Microsoft (windows and office - I know you can do the same thing with Linux and OO in most cases but lets face it. The vast majority of businesses do not right now and will not in the very near future).

I imagine the new office would run on MS servers. Now instead of paying MS twice to write a document I would have to pay them three times. Office under a subscription system would be ideal in this situation. The OSes (desktop/workstation and server) would still be on the pay for license upgrade cycle, but Office switches to a subscription (monthly/quarterly/yearly/whatever) revenue stream.
