Right now there may not be 9600 open souce drivers because ATI won't release programming information. Someone was working on r300 but withoug any documentation about the card it's going to be very slow progress.

I just can't live without Xft enabled Linux builds. I currently use Xft/gtk2 Mozilla Firebird and I like it alot. I'd like to try this but without smooth web fonts I don't think I would use it but I'll probably download/install it to check it out but I'll be loading Mozilla Firebird as my primary browser.
This release is and will be "UNSUPPORTED" if you read the Rein comments. So there will be no cd release or hybrid cd because they would than have to support it.
This is blocked in Netscape 7. Which sucks. If you go to install it . It comes back with access denied. Maybe there's a file to edit manually for it. I have to look into this further
This is great to see this screenshot but there are still some outstanding questions that need to be answered. The first is. How will us Linux folks be able to install this game. As far as I know certain game data is in an Installshield exe on the windows cd. Bioware released the Linux dedicated server binaries but you have to install the game on windows and patch it on windows than copy the files over to Linux. Since there's no tool to extract the game data out of the exe for Linux how can we get the gamedata off of the cd? I've been reading the nwn forums and as far as I 've read, there is game data in an Install shield exe so this could be a big problem. Another thing is how will we be able to update the game. Will Bioware port their autoupdater to Linux or will we have to install the game on windows and patch it on windows than copy the game data over?
http://www.transgaming.com/gamepage.php?gameid=167 There is a native port of this game and yet they still have this up. This is why transgaming won't see a dime from me. Native port available here. ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/wolf/linux

I didn't go through the whole list but I'm sure there are a few more they have listed there that have been ported and work natively. I just get tired reading that someone tries running quake3 with wine or winex when id has been releasing linux binaries for a long time.
Does that mean no more click of death on IBM hard drives? I have a 75GXP just starting to click, so I will RMA soon and don't forget there's that class action law suit on the IBM 75GXP http://www.sheller.com/ibmclassaction.htm
My Brother works for Merrill Lynch. He is in the London office. I was there on vacation a couple weeks ago and I had the oppurtunity to visit the new Merril Office there. It's very cool btw. What I saw on my brother's desk was 2 machines. One Sun and one dell, both dual head, flat panel. As it says in the article, Sun is being displaced on the desktop in this particular instance. It will be interesting when I visit him again and I go to the office. What will I see? One Windows machine or one Linux Machine, or just Linux replacing Sun and Windows staying as is.
This is on windows but on Linux there is only 2d support in Xfree cvs and will probably be in 4.2.0 release that is slated for November. But what about 3d? DRI has no one funding it. Who's going to write 3d for the 8500 and 7500.
The Real Media content on news.com used to play fine under linux + netscape and Real Player but they redesigned the site about a month ago and since than video content does not play on linux it just Stalls nicely. It just sits there doing nothing.

This was a problem with NETWORK printing not local printing. Local worked fine it was setting it up on esr's network which was the problem.

This card has no 3d support in Linux which may make them very useless for some people.

The Hybrid is only available in Japan. No plans for a North American release from what I've been reading.
cat /proc/sys/kernel/tainted if you have an nvidia kernel module loaded.
