If you are playing a part, then play the part... reality is that you will suffer some sort of consequence for doing something bad... even fallout 3 (which I also like to play... good and bad) recognizes this. People here say don't fee the trolls. Well I believe we shouldn't feed potential sociopaths and people with stunted social skills with content that will bend them the wrong way socially... unless the content also shows them the consequence of the actions.

Kind of sad commentary on the fucktards who think killing innocent people is fun. Even if it is in a video game, it reflects your values.

On another note, they could introduce killing civilians in video games in an "ethical" manner. Just set the rules that if you kill a civilian it will either immediately or eventually negatively impact your game. e.g. some time later in the game when you are found out, your player is executed for murder. But then, the AI would have to figure out whether it was accidental (usually forgivable in the fog of war) or intentional. Fallout 3 rewarded your karma level by sending hit squads (regulators) after you if you did enough "bad" things, and mercs after you if you were too good.

Welcome to Canada's "hate crime" laws. If you say something that in the least offends someone, you are guaranteed to see someone trying to prosecute or at least have government sanctioned censorship of what you are saying. One fellow published a story about radical Islam in Canada and how we have to watch out for it as some Muslim clerics in Canada have been preaching it, and at least some people have been following those clerics. For example, a couple of years ago a terror cell was apprehended and a number of people were sentenced to up to 20 years or more in prison for plotting to set off bombs in Toronto and Ottawa. The same radical clerics tried to sue the magazine and have it censored under the hate crime laws; even though there was nothing factually wrong (or wrong in any other way) about the article. Censorship is bad no matter how you slice it. It can be abused far too easily. However when you can actually find someone making real threats and organizing violence or other activities that impact others' right to a peaceful and happy existence, then that is stepping over the line. That is how I see the fine line that Cameron is trying to walk. FWIW, I would rather allow the most blatant racists and other scum be able to say whatever they want wherever they want. At least that way we know who and where they are. The Klan exists in America still and has the right to say what they want. America still elected a non-white president. When I lived in the U.S., for a while I had to go from Saint Louis to KC for one week a month for a while for work so listened to a lot of talk radio on the way.

I remember about 7 or 8 years ago listening to Bill O'Rielly on the radio talking about "socialist" Canada, and how rotten the place is, and wondering why anyone would talk nicely of it considering especially how it was always in debt and had spending out of control to finance its socialist agenda. All pure bullshit of course. I can think back on that now and smile.

Since O'Rielly is a darling of Fox, I just to look and see what Fox News' slant was on this was and how they were going to misinform their viewers/readers on the subject. And here it is... not even all that subtle: The three main credit agencies, which also include Moody's Investor Service and Fitch, had warned during the budget fight that if Congress did not cut spending far enough, the country faced a downgrade.. Completely misleading and feeding the Tea Bagger bullshit machine. Ah yeas, the Murdoch slime machine at work.

The downgrade wasn't because the U.S. didn't cut spending. It was because they decided to keep deficit spending (increasing the debt ceiling) instead of addressing the "money in less than money out" issue. Tax increases and the lack of them also figured into the rating change, considering the U.S. has about the lowest tax rate of the G7 countries, but near the highest per capita debt. But hey, if they really wanted to cut spending how about looking at the notion that the U.S. spends more on its military than all the rest of the world does combined... sorry, forgot about the ego and paranoia problem. And a tax increase isn't really a good way to put some of what they could have done to increase revenue. For example, it could have started with getting rid of the Bush error (oops I mean era) tax cuts on the wealthy that was supposed to be temporary to begin with. Alas, the Tea Baggers were rabidly against doing that to their financial backers.

Fox wants to propagandize this to pander to its misinformed viewers to make it seem like the fact that the Tea Baggers prevented tax increases for the most wealthy had nothing to do with it. The most wealthy have the lowest tax rates they have ever had. They omit saying that during some of the most productive and economically booming times in the past century the tax rates on the upper income groups was much, much higher. e.g. In the 50's under Republican president Eisenhower, and during the 90's under Democratic president Clinton. Not increasing revenue by returning taxes to prior levels definitely figures into the credit downgrade.

FWIW, Canada balanced its budget and began paying down the debt starting in the early 90s through to 2008; the only member of the G7 IIRC that was doing so (and why Canada was one of the least affected countries from the current recession). The balanced budget went out the window around 2008 with this recession when the current conservative government went way overboard on stimulus spending.

I would see hookers come in a lot. Some did it because they liked the money. An awful lot did it because they got roped into drugs and were abused. I remember one pimp telling another that he had to smack out a new girl because she got proud that she could get a guy off twice. He said something along the lines of he slapped her out and told her if the guy spoofed twice, she had to make him pay double. I didn't care much at the time. The only movies I can think of that CGI was any good was maybe the Lord of The Rings trilogy with Gollum... but that was *just* passable. The ghost army sucked in my opinion, as did the oliphants and much of the CGI that was used in the foreground.
