1/12th may not seem much, but don't underestimate word-of-mouth! You don't see this on mainstream media, but I've read somewhere that there were about 87,000 (yes, eighty-seven thousand) demonstrations against the communist government in China last year. And a poll revealed that China is the country where the most people believe in free enterprise.

So, they say "playing violent videogames can lead young men to believe it is acceptable to smoke marijuana and drink alcohol."

Let me rewrite this: "playing violent videogames can lead young men to believe that the government does not have the right to forbid you from consuming mild mind-altering substances, as long as your actions do not harm others' lives."

    Sounds pretty good to me.

A web-based client does not fit the usual definition of client: the stand-alone program that accesses data from a network service. In that sense, the client is still not Gmail's web-based interface, but whatever web browser that you are using to access Gmail.

  12. Gmail is NOT an e-mail client, you fool on Gmail vs Pine · · Score: 0, Troll

Gmail is an e-mail service, usually web-based, but also accessible by any email client. Pine is - like Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora, or Apple Mail - an e-mail client: an application that is used to read and send e-mail.

I know it sounds wrong now, but in 1997 it was true. Back then, Internet Explorer was the best web browser on the Mac; Netscape Communicator had become a bloated, crash-prone mess; there was no Opera for Mac, no iCab, no Firefox - there was pretty much no alternative... unless you count Mosaic or Cyberdog (yea right).
