My point is that because many manufacturers will be making gphones their prices will tend to go down and as a result more people will buy them. With only one manufacturer selling iphones there's not the same incentive for apple to drop prices (and they've always like their high gross margins). I expect to see gphones on many different carriers unlike iphones which just have a deal with AT&T
one time to rule them all - just change your work hours/days to match the local sun
Remember that timezones are a relatively modern invention - used to be every little town had it's own time - from the town hall clock - it wasn't until the coming of the railroad (and timetables) and the telegraph that anyone needed to care
competition - Apple's got no one to compete with - lots of people will be making gphones, competing with each other, and they'll be pushing prices down - which platform do you want to develop software for?
"What do you mean I can't fly?" "it says here you're a convicted terrorist" "I spat on the sidewalk, he wrote me a ticket, he didn't have a 'spitting on the sidewalk' check box so he ticked 'terrorist'" "yeah sure I bet you're one of those Iraqis who destroyed the WTC - we do have tickets to our special place in Cuba...."
of course it's 'here' - when Mr Bell made the first telephones they were 'here' too....
You have to start somewhere - plugin hybrids weren't really even on anyone's radar before the various Prius hackers started making their own and getting press about it
plus the fact that eventually, when the budget gets sorted, everyone will need to get back pay so they'll need to do all the book keeping now to make sure no one misses out, and then, as they mention, the work to cut the checks later
simply because it uses fewer pixels - a lot of space that gets wasted with window names in the horizontal bar gets reclaimed when the names are truncated - I switched to a horizontal KDE bar years ago and going back would be such a pain
not everyone just wants to load apps on their iPhones, some of us are used to travelling the world and loading local sim cards into our phones as we go (because they are cheaper and give us a local number) - I have a nice little collection and wont buy a phone that I can't use this way
I want a phone that keeps up with my home Asterisk exchange while I travel, or when I'm at home (I live in NZ) - rings anywhere in the world - and is smart about making outgoing calls depending on which sim card I have in and whether I can reach the asterisk exchange over wifi - of course this is going to be different for each user so it's going to have to be scriptable...
if you modify someone else's code the code you write has to become GPLed too if you want to distribute it (source or binaries) - but you only need to offer to distribute the source if you want to distribute just the binaries - using it inhouse without distribution is OK
security thru obscurity is bad in general, do it right! if your security can't handle source code examination it wont handle some hacker poking in the binary
I live in NZ - "locally" means "this side of the Pacific" - I pay by the Gb - which goes to pay for that fibre between you and me - since I pay for the Gb wherever the packets come from and my ISP pays for however much of the fibre is used then caching each and every torrent is in their interest
The same thing applies to everyone, but maybe not quite so extremely (replace "fibre" with "peering")
will they be installing everyone else with RFID readers>?
or just download the android SDK for free, load up eclipse and you'll have hello world running in about 10 minutes - I was suitably impressed

what he means is that an existing Mongol member having purchased such a jacket can't have it taken away from him even if the state takes over the IP
not only will I have to take off my shoes I'll have to shave my beard

I mean the whole point of Otherland was that people got trapped there ... does that just mean they wont cancel your credit monthly if you quit?
"woot" is right - time to send them some more money!
but then I realised he's a programmer in his day job and probably wants a change ....
best wedding band ever .....
because when they were done they would be earning minimum wage ....

no - the problem is that no one wants to be paid minimum wage to program COBOL
hey I do - I think I've loaded Vista maybe twice since I bought this laptop a year or so ago - I forget why
simply because it uses fewer pixels - a lot of space that gets wasted with window names in the horizontal bar gets reclaimed when the names are truncated - I switched to a horizontal KDE bar years ago and going back would be such a pain
Ada runs her own business, selling stuff to geeks, she understands her market - it isn't guys in suits
just so long as it isn't Israel - half the act seems to have to do with there

you're right - the DoD did the smart thing and posted a link to Slashdot ....
