It doesn't lock you out. Or not me anyway. I get a message that says to disable my adblocking software, but the program shows up normally after 30 seconds.
Now is a great time to level new characters to 70. With the expansion right around the corner you don't have to go through the gear grind at level 70. It'll all get replaced once the expansion hits anyway.
I've pulled a few ~40s off the shelves and plan on hitting 70 with them (along with some friends) before the expansion comes.
The expansions are great since they effectively reboot your first character choice. We're all level 1 (70) again!
I'm on the other side of the same coin. The only reason I won't try it is because of Mythic's attachment. It was DAoC that turned me off to MMORPGs for a very long time. I quit shortly after Shrouded Isles because the lack of any content other than RVR (which is useless when you still need to level) became too frustrating.
Had this game been made by a different developer I'd give it a try at release, but now I'm going to wait a good six months or so for more information.
I only bought the game yesterday and only made it through the tribal stage, but the GP is pretty spot on from what I've seen so far.
The cell stage gives you some minor customization options, but really it's flOw. Replace customization with moving on to the next "level" in flOw and playing as a new creature type and you have the same game.
I initially had problems with the creature stage and was trying to tactically equip my creature to be able to befriend other creatures better. But then I realized that I should just add a companion (I forget what they're called right now). At that point the stage became trivial. I was a big fat bird with no offensive abilities other than bite and I and my recruits were destroying anything but the giant elite creatures. With one button.
The tribal stage was so short and shallow I'm surprised it was even in the game. It DOESN'T matter what kind of weapon you use. I had access to the flame sticks and axes and was planning an assault on the green village. When I got there I realized that I forgot to equip axes. Didn't seem to make a difference. I destroyed the villagers a few seconds slower than I could have I guess.
I spent 2-3 hours on the creature stage trying to collect parts for customization even after I was able to move on to the next stage. I didn't realize that this customization had almost zero effect on the gameplay that would follow and was mostly for aesthetic purposes.
I was disappointed that the creature stage throws out any semblance of evolution or heredity. When mating to create offspring you can completely throw out every single part that the parents had and create a completely new creature. And the entire tribe morphs into that new creature. Some restrictions or forced incremental steps would have been nice here.
As I said I'm about to embark on the civilization stage, so maybe that will improve my opinion. Right now I'd say the game is... neat, but I can't see myself playing it over and over again. These first stages have felt like flash games (not even the best flash games) with a great creature editor tacked on.
And don't think your "architect" job will be safe forever. Remember when we told the laid off manufacturing workers to "learn computers"? At least that lasted for 15 years or so.
If you don't have to physically be there you're expendable.
How is limiting the amount of resources that can be gathered going to LOWER the cost? Are you suggesting that people who want to gather copper for professions should create and delete alts to do so? Do you realize that ALL professions require many more resources than what can be gathered before that skill goes gray?
Should they get rid of rare world drops? Do you WANT rare recipes being vendored instead of going to someone who can use it?
I never said gold selling is bad. I'm not sure that it is. I know a lot of people who have bought gold here and there and frankly I don't care. Gold lending definitely isn't wrong. I've loaned gold to people many times so they could bump a few points in crafting, get a mount, or respec a few times to switch between PvP and raid nights. I've borrowed gold to get my nether ray a few weeks earlier than I would otherwise.
I don't know that we're playing the same game. Farming is becoming obsolete. When you can make a couple hundred gold in about an hour by doing dailies, who needs farming? That's kinda why they're there. I don't know anyone who farms primals any more for any purpose other than crafting. I think you're solving a problem that largely doesn't exist anymore with a solution that frankly doesn't make any sense.
Here are some thing they could do:
1) Don't let anyone mine/pick anything that there skill level makes gray to them. Now I can't gather my own mats for a new profession. No thanks.
2) put some random drift into movement. Annoying, but OK.
3) limit the price you can sell something for on the AH to 10 times what a vendor would pay
Uh... vendors will pay you 5G for an item that you could sell for several hundred times that on the open market.
4) don't allow the transfer of more then 100GP a time. Maybe a one time unlimited amount per month. So now I can't borrow money from friends for an epic mount. Or maybe I can, but I can't pay them back for 30 days. Or I can't sell anything for more than 100g. I'll pass.
Yeah, so I search for Joe Horn. The first link returned is one for the Texas shooting controversy. The image next to it? A doll of the (former) New Orleans Saints wide receiver.
Innocent until proven guilty is only applicable to the justice system. If I see someone break into my or my neighbor's house he's guilty. That's why I call the cops. Otherwise I'd assume every crime in progress isn't really happening and there's a reasonable explanation.
Masked man walking out of my house with my TV? My wife must have called a repairman with a deformity. I'd better leave him alone.
Woman being raped? Two lovebirds living out a fantasy. How sweet.
And nice work on reading too much into both the article linked and into what I wrote. I agree, death isn't a proper punishment for burglary. But the man was defending his neighbor's property. How do YOU know that he didn't ask them what they were doing and they threatened him? Neither of us do, so stop making up scenarios to prove your point.
This whole discussion is moot anyway since we're talking about TRESPASSING, not burglary, home invasion, or any other crime that may be justified by deadly force. I don't know why you would bring up a burglary example when talking about someone ignoring a "Private Property" sign.
I love all the "let's see them try that in Texas!" posts scattered all over the internet. Like Texans are sitting on their front porch with shotguns just waiting for some city slicker to slip up.
Although I guess that behavior does have precedence. I think Tobe Hooper even made a movie about it.
Except it's not. It's opinion. The Wii Remote is theoretically better than two thumb sticks. Until the Wii remote comes a lot closer in terms of precision and reaction time, I'll stick with the gamecube controller where I can.
I had the exact opposite reaction to Mario Kart Wii. I find the Wiimote klunky, imprecise, and unresponsive. After a couple of days trying to use the Wiimote I switched to the Gamecube controller. My son, who usually loves using the Wiimote (mostly for Sports), gave up after only 1 play session and will only use the Gamecube controller.
He was the first to create animation with sound. He invented the long-form animation genre. He invented the modern theme park. Ignoring the many films based on older public domain stories, his studio created more characters than Miyamoto would ever dream of.
And really, how much thoughtfulness does it take to invent a "save the princess" game? Twice?
Miyamoto has done some great things, but really, he and Disney aren't even in the same league.
Miyamoto has rehashed the same few franchises over and over again. With nothing added but improved control schemes or graphics. While Disney may have put Mickey Mouse in hundreds of cartoons, at least his studios had to come up with a new story for each one.
Mickey Mouse is arguably the most iconic figure of the 20th century.
In my opinion without Disney, there wouldn't be a Miyamoto.
not many people give a fuck for super complex game rules
While true, WoW is also the most open with information on how things work behind the scenes. Which gives nerds all the number crunching goodness they desire.

Because the only thing holding you back from playing with titties was your parents. Right?
It doesn't lock you out. Or not me anyway. I get a message that says to disable my adblocking software, but the program shows up normally after 30 seconds.
PVP. And that's my intention. I have no idea if it'll actually happen. Rotating rested xp is helping a lot.
I probably should have said as close to 70 as I can bear.

Hrm, yes. My 6 year old occasionally asks me how long until the sun explodes.
Then I'd see a female night elf with a cool name like bloodsiren
I think we just found your problem.

If you date someone for looks rather than interests, they are going to get on your skin real fast once they get old.
I'd rather she get on my skin while she's still young. Often. Like several times a day.

I think that came out last year.
